Cambridge Calling: Pink Tutu Takes on the City 🩰

Post number 5457: www.pink-tutu.com

Good morning, my lovely lot! It's Emma here, writing to you live from the quaint, cobbled streets of Cambridge. This little city is simply bursting with history, and, dare I say, it's a perfect place to showcase my new pink tutu! It's just the right shade of blush, you know, a sort of "sweet pink flamingo" colour. My favourite thing about this particular tutu is its layers of tulle; it's a little princess-y and makes me twirl like nobody's watching. (But trust me, people always watch!)

I took the train to Cambridge, of course, a journey I always find delightful. Something about gliding through the countryside in a carriage, watching the world whiz past…pure magic! As I boarded, I couldn't help but smile as I felt eyes following my tutu as I waltzed down the aisle. You've got to own it, my darlings! Confidence is key to rocking that pink tulle with flair.

Reaching Cambridge, my senses were overloaded with charming old buildings and bustling crowds. My heart is truly in these older cities, don't you think? Where history comes alive around every corner, it's impossible not to be inspired! And Cambridge certainly doesn't disappoint.

My first stop was the famous Cambridge University, just to get a feel for its energy. It felt alive with young minds buzzing around, books clutched in their hands. There was a palpable sense of aspiration in the air.

I'm all for making ballet accessible to everyone, so I decided to take a class at the Cambridge Ballet School, right in the heart of the city. It was such a lovely, intimate studio, with wood floors and light streaming through the windows. I felt a kinship with the other students, a silent language shared between us dancers – the passion, the joy, the pure love for movement.

Afterwards, I wandered through the city, mesmerised by its quaint cafes and historic churches. I popped into a sweet little bookstore called "The Bookshop" and fell head over heels for a book on the history of ballet. Can you believe? I can't wait to delve into the intricacies of ballet’s development, its roots, its evolution - just fascinating!

Then it was on to the Cambridge Arts Theatre, a delightful old playhouse where the atmosphere hummed with anticipation. I was so lucky to get tickets to a performance of Swan Lake – it was magical. I truly appreciate ballet at every level: professional performances like this, my weekly classes at my studio in Derbyshire, even ballet street dancers, they all offer their own unique magic.

But the real magic was discovering a secret garden in the centre of the city, tucked away like a secret treasure. It was bursting with fragrant roses and honeysuckle, and I felt as though I'd stumbled onto another planet, so tranquil and beautiful it was. I couldn't resist the urge to spin a few pirouettes, surrounded by the vibrant flowers. My pink tutu flowed around me like a gentle breeze, adding to the sheer whimsy of it all.

And of course, no trip to Cambridge would be complete without a visit to the Botanic Garden. I swear, I haven't been somewhere so alive and so peaceful. The plants and flowers were all so beautiful, with their own unique stories to tell. It was the perfect place to ponder about my upcoming travel plans and new tutu designs!

Before leaving Cambridge, I indulged in a delicious cream tea at a traditional tearoom. Honestly, it’s become a must-do whenever I travel. The teapot was so pretty, and the scones were perfectly fluffy, with clotted cream and homemade jam, yum!

Cambridge is a city that stays with you, etched into your memories. And this particular visit, with its charming streets, captivating performances, and its very own secret garden, will stay with me forever.

But let's not forget about the most important thing, the true heart of my journey: my love for the ballet! I am so grateful for all the people who shared their passion with me, from the lovely students at the Cambridge Ballet School to the professional dancers in Swan Lake, their passion for dance resonated through the city.

Don't you ever stop dancing, my lovelies! Remember, you can twirl anytime, anywhere. And don't be afraid to rock a pink tutu, no matter where you are or what you're doing. Because let's be honest, pink tutus always make life a little bit more magical.

Until next time, keep your chins up, wear a smile, and maybe even try out a little pirouette, or two.

And remember, we’re all on a journey to get the world wearing pink tutus and dancing!

XOXO,

Emma
