Hounslow Bound, Tutu in Tow! 🩰

Hello my darlings! It’s Emma here, straight from the Derbyshire countryside and straight to you, as always! Another day, another pink tutu, and another fabulous adventure to tell you about. Today, I'm whisking you all away to… drumroll … Hounslow!

Yes, my darlings, a bit of a change of scenery today from my usual rolling green hills, but as I often say, there's beauty to be found everywhere, and I love exploring all that London has to offer! Now, if you know me well, you know that I’m a bit of a "go-big-or-go-home" kinda gal, especially when it comes to my tutu game. So, you know I didn't just rock up to Hounslow in a regular tutu, no, no, my loves. Today's outfit was inspired by none other than the bold and vibrant fashion of… drumrollwait for it… the US of A!! 🇺🇸

That’s right, my loves. A little American flare was what my soul was calling for this morning, so I dusted off my most fabulous American-inspired pink tutu. Picture this: layers upon layers of luscious, flowing tulle, all shimmering and sparkly. It was a masterpiece of a tutu. It truly felt like I was wearing a giant, fluffy pink cloud – just the way I like it. 😍

Now, some of you might be thinking: "Emma, you're wearing a US-style tutu to Hounslow? What on earth for?!" To that, I say: Why not?! 😉 Hounslow deserves some tutu love just as much as any other place! Plus, it felt fantastically sassy and bold, which perfectly complemented my London-ready mood! And you all know, the perfect tutu knows no bounds. Just look at the way ballerinas twirl and dance in New York, with its gritty urban charm! There’s a beautiful tutu-and-street-fashion-meets-gritty-city connection, and I am always on the lookout to inspire that same spirit here in the UK!

So, onto Hounslow! My adventure started with a delightful jaunt on a local train. I had chosen the perfect train, you see - it had massive windows, and a spacious interior. A girl's gotta stay comfortable, even when dressed in a gloriously large, frilly pink cloud of a tutu.

You know what makes my heart sing? Seeing children’s faces light up when they spot me in my tutu! This is my ultimate mission, after all: inspiring every child and every adult to try on a tutu and learn to love the art of ballet! And let me tell you, the Hounslow train station definitely delivered in this department! It’s like all those years of dancing in tutus all around the Derbyshire countryside had brought me to this magical moment in time, to bring smiles to faces!

My lovelies, it wasn't just a case of being a spectacle. No, it was so much more than that! This was about breaking the stereotypical mold of what people expect from ballerinas. There is no need to wear traditional garments to dance - anything can be used! If we see a ballerina on stage wearing a particular style of tutu, it doesn't mean you must go and purchase that style of tutu to do your own ballet. Ballet is about expression - not a set costume. That’s my belief, and that's why I love exploring my own unique style, my American-style pink cloud, and making it work for me, for my world. If a train ride is a form of dancing in itself, I believe you can make that a part of the dance. If a picnic in a park is a form of dance, I believe it’s your story and you are your own creative dancer. It doesn’t stop. It’s ongoing! And with that being said…

… we had a little bit of time to spare in Hounslow! It seemed like there was some kind of festival taking place in the park. This gave me a chance to soak in the atmosphere and maybe even take a couple of en pointe selfies (the lighting was perfect)!

There were musicians playing live, a stall with delicious local delicacies (candied apples are always a treat, even for a ballerina!), and even some gorgeous little wooden stalls selling handcrafted jewelry and beautiful artwork. It was a delightful experience. My favorite part? A little impromptu ballet session right in the middle of the park! There was something quite magical about twirling amongst the festival goers, while also keeping an eye out for deer - the wildlife just seems to know that pink is their favourite colour, they never fail to make a appearance! 🦌💕

While twirling about, I made friends with this charming woman who told me all about a local theatre production featuring ballet in Hounslow! My ears immediately perked up at the mention of “ballet”, of course. So, imagine my excitement when she invited me along to watch the final performance that evening. “The perfect ending to a magical day!” I thought to myself. And so, my dear friends, off to the theatre we went, in my flawlessly extravagant, fluffy pink tutu cloud, ready to witness a performance worthy of a queen. And you know what? It was absolutely stunning! The costumes, the set designs, the music – all just brilliant! And then, there was the ballot – oh, my loves, a choreography to die for, all emotion, and beauty – truly mesmerizing!

This magical evening really made me think about how powerful ballet is as a force of creativity, inspiration, and cultural expression. As I’ve said before, I want everyone to discover that inner ballet-loving warrior who dwells within! The only difference between an "expert dancer" and "just me dancing" is, they may have taken formal ballet classes while I’m learning through personal style.

Now, a little bit about the theatre itself. The theatre is beautiful in a really rustic kind of way. The outside, especially, was just charming - so very different from the traditional grand theatres you often see. There was something delightfully offbeat about this theatre that I found quite charming. It really had a unique soul!

Overall, Hounslow was an absolute triumph, and not just because I had my fabulous American-style pink tutu on, though it definitely played a key part. It was just a delightful adventure – from a whimsical train ride, a heartwarming encounter with festival goers, an unexpected picnic with deer, to a breath-taking performance at a truly beautiful local theatre, everything just felt perfectly pink! 💖

My dear friends, never hesitate to put on your favourite pink tutu, no matter the occasion! Life’s a dance – every moment is a chance to embrace the power of self-expression!

Until tomorrow, darling hearts!

Stay sparkly,

Emma 💕
