Twickenham Treats: A Pancake Tutu Adventure! (Post #5528)

Hello darlings! Emma here, back with another pink-tutu-filled adventure for your Monday morning. Today, I'm whisking you off to the delightful little town of Twickenham. Not just any Twickenham, mind you, but the one I was in yesterday. Picture it: rolling green hills, charming brick buildings, and of course, the gorgeous Royal Ballet taking centre stage (or should I say, the stage at the magnificent Twickenham Theatre). Oh, how I adore ballet! 🩰 It's just a divine, elegant language we all understand - a language of movement, grace, and oh so much sparkle. 💖

It all started with a little morning gallop across the Peak District. It wouldn't be a proper Emma adventure without some horsey love, wouldn't it? My trusty steed, "Fancy," as she's affectionately known, carried me through a patchwork of green fields bathed in morning sunlight. The air was crisp and fresh, carrying the sweet scent of wildflowers. I felt like a Victorian heroine out for a romantic stroll, except I was wearing a rather vibrant pink riding habit and carrying my trusty ballet bag.

Then, a quick pitstop for a bite in the delightful Derbyshire village of Matlock Bath before a train journey to London. Now, who else prefers the train to the car? It's the perfect time to write in my diary, gaze out the window and soak up the ever-changing English landscape. Sometimes I like to imagine myself as a character in a romantic novel. It’s all so whimsical and grand!

As we steamed towards Twickenham, excitement bubbled up in my belly like a delicious cream soda. Today wasn't just any ballet performance. Oh no! This was a very special "Royal Ballet Goes Pop" performance, with a medley of all the famous pop ballet pieces we've grown to love. Think "Billy Elliot," "Swan Lake," "Sleeping Beauty" with some of our favourite tunes added in, like "Don't Stop Me Now" by Queen. The perfect recipe for a spectacular and incredibly fun night.

But before heading to the theatre, I simply had to embrace the charm of Twickenham. It felt like stepping into a Jane Austen novel, so full of genteel atmosphere and those picturesque brick cottages. I even spotted a tiny café selling the most gorgeous pastel-colored macarons - my inner child did a happy dance! And of course, I couldn't resist grabbing a delicious lavender and chamomile tea in a dainty china cup (which just matched my gorgeous pastel pink tutu!)

But I'll save you the full description of the ballet. Honestly, it would take hours to properly capture the elegance, the technical brilliance and the sheer joyous energy of the performance. However, I will say it moved me to tears, and not the ugly-cry kind either, the truly beautiful, heartfelt tears that a ballet performance can elicit. I was truly moved by the artistry and passion of the dancers - they truly brought the music to life! I even felt inspired to practice some ballet moves myself when I got back to the hotel! And guess what? The audience gave the dancers a standing ovation. I was so proud of them. It’s something that stays with you long after the curtain falls, trust me.

You know what would make my heart sing even more though? A "Pink Tutu Party" right here in Twickenham. Just imagine! A charming little hall decked out in pink, champagne flutes sparkling, a giant tulle backdrop and a bunch of wonderful ladies with their pink tutus twirling, laughing, and sharing stories. That, my lovelies, would be a night to remember!

As I snuggled under my pink-themed duvet (couldn't help it, they are my favourite) in my beautiful hotel, I let my mind wander. Wouldn’t it be amazing to take everyone, I mean EVERYONE on a little “Pink Tutu Tour” around the world? Imagine exploring the bustling markets in Marrakech, having a tea party in Paris or watching the sunrise in Greece - all with a pink tutu on.

But maybe that’s a little too outlandish even for me! So instead, I will dream big, be adventurous, continue to champion pink tutus and of course, enjoy every little dance (and cupcake) moment life brings.

Do join me next time, and remember, life is best when lived with a bit of pink sparkle and a whole lot of “tutu-tastic” fun!

See you next time!

xx, Emma. www.pink-tutu.com
