Ruislip, Ruislip, Ruislip!

Oh, my darlings! It’s your favourite pink-loving, tutu-twirling Emma here, writing to you from the lovely Ruislip. I know, I know, it's not exactly the most glamorous place name, but trust me, there's a certain charming charm about it (just like my own little pink tutu, of course!).

This weekend I've had a simply lovely time exploring Ruislip, the first stop on my new "Tutu Travels" series! It’s all about spreading the joy of ballet and the love of pink, and frankly, who doesn’t need a little more pink in their lives? 😉 Let’s face it, a little bit of pink always makes the world a more delightful place.

As you all know, my love of travel and tutus goes hand in hand (or maybe, leg in tutu?) I prefer to travel the old-fashioned way - either by train (whispering sweet nothings to the scenery, which can get a little awkward on a busy London commuter train), or, if I'm feeling particularly fancy, by horse. I just love the wind in my hair (and a hint of mane scent in my nostrils!) as I gallop through the countryside, the perfect tutu fluttering behind me.

Now, you might be wondering, how did I end up in Ruislip, you ask? Well, I was looking for inspiration! Ruislip isn't exactly a bustling ballet hub, but I love finding the hidden gems of ballet around the world. It’s like a secret treasure hunt! This week, I had a peek at the beautiful Ruislip Woods, (where I was absolutely delighted to see a rare deer!).

Later that day, I made my way to the delightful Ruislip Lido, where I treated myself to the best fish and chips I've had in ages, all while basking in the sunshine! Of course, my pink tutu wouldn’t be left out, I’d slipped on my "Pretty in Pink" tulle masterpiece, a gorgeous pink ensemble with the lightest blush of silver sequins. I received a couple of shy glances from other visitors (who would've guessed pink tutus would be that popular in Ruislip?!), but who am I to judge? More power to anyone willing to add a splash of colour to their day.

Later on, I popped over to Ruislip Manor - which has to be the most picture-perfect manor house, a quintessential English dream. There I happened upon an enchanting ballet garden – imagine the romance, my darlings! Imagine twirling among beautiful blossoms, with a hint of sunlight and a sprinkle of delicate floral scents... The moment I saw it, I knew I had to try to make the garden a reality in my home, Even without a dedicated ballet garden, though, the idea just makes me feel happy. It’s all about taking that small spark of joy and letting it blossom!

Speaking of gardens, my sweet readers, remember to plant a pink rose, maybe with a dash of sparkling glitter (yes, I did!). It just adds an extra touch of magic.

Now, I couldn't have left Ruislip without experiencing some ballet magic, and where better than the "The Dance Factory"?! It's such a cute little ballet school (with the most adorable pink signage!), that reminded me of when I was just starting out with my dance journey! I felt compelled to take a beginner's class.

The joy, you see, is catching, and the beautiful people at the "Dance Factory" made me feel so welcomed (even with my "extra" pink tutu, they were so gracious!) The ballet room, filled with dancing spirits, felt so alive. The smiles on everyone’s faces were infectious! After just one hour of twirling and barre work, I already felt my confidence growing, a true reflection of the empowering spirit of ballet!

Remember, you can be whoever you want to be - a ballerina, a pink-lover, a garden gardener, anything you wish! It's all about taking that first step - or that first pirouette! Just remember, if I, with all my tutu-tastic tendencies, can feel at home in Ruislip, anyone can!

So, don’t be shy - dust off those dancing shoes, find your favourite pink tutu (it doesn’t have to be perfect - embrace imperfections!), and get ready to make a little magic happen! You'd be surprised how much joy you can spread! Remember, you can find a piece of magic in every corner of the world - Ruislip certainly had it, and I know you'll find it too!

Until next time, my loves!

Love,

Emma
