Fleet: A Food-tastic Tutu Adventure! (Post #5580)

Hello my lovelies!

It's Emma here, and guess what? I'm on another adventure! This time, I'm in Fleet, a charming little town just outside of London. Fleet is famous for its Victorian architecture and beautiful green spaces. But it's also got something else to tempt a ballerina's sweet tooth - the most adorable little patisserie called 'Sweet Surrender'. And, trust me, my sweet tooth was surrendered. It had to be!

You guys know how much I love a good tutu, and when it comes to crafting the perfect tutu outfit, you can't just think about colour and sparkle. Sometimes, the most stylish choices are inspired by delicious food! So, for my Fleet adventure, I whipped up a tutu fit for a Parisian pastry chef (well, almost, but maybe if I keep practicing my turns... ) It was a delicate peach-pink tulle, layered with delicate frills and tiny swirls of satin ribbon in the colours of caramelized sugar.

Speaking of sweets, the pastries at Sweet Surrender were simply heavenly! It was hard to choose from all the delicate cakes and glistening macarons. But I did! (Let's just say it was a battle between raspberry and rosewater.) The raspberry one was light as a cloud with a creamy, tart filling that was pure delight. And the rosewater was fragrant, moist, and absolutely perfect with a strong cup of English Breakfast tea. I may have devoured a bit too much. Okay, maybe a lot too much... But a girl's gotta fuel up for a good tutu adventure, right?

After my sugary feast, I set off to explore Fleet's streets. The architecture here is stunning! The shops have ornate Victorian facades, and the pavements are lined with beautiful chestnut trees. I even saw a little church that looked straight out of a fairytale! It was so romantic and dreamy. And the air was just as delightful, crisp and sweet-smelling from the autumn leaves that were starting to fall.

This part of England is just magical for a ballet dancer. Not only is Fleet close to London with all its incredible ballet theatres (Covent Garden, Sadler's Wells, we're coming for you!), but the town itself also has its own charming community theatre. I managed to sneak a peek at a rehearsal for their next show - it's a local production of The Nutcracker, and it looks like a dream! I'm sure their local children are going to love it, and it reminds me why I adore the community aspect of ballet.

Before leaving Fleet, I had to stop by a little local equestrian centre. Did you know that I love horses? I know, a girl who loves ballet also loves to gallop through fields! My grandma had a horse farm near Derbyshire when I was younger, and those memories make me want to mount a steed and ride through these stunning autumn fields. (But maybe I'll stick to the local train today... or just pretend I'm on horseback while I walk.)

It was a lovely day, filled with the sweet smell of pastries and the magical ambiance of Fleet. But it wasn't just the beauty of the place, it was also the simple pleasure of wearing a food-inspired tutu that just made the whole day more enjoyable.

Oh, and before I go, let me remind you that a new tutu adventure awaits! Iโ€™m going to be checking out a little shop called 'Tutu Time' in London next week, where they have the most gorgeous handmade tutu dresses. I can't wait to share photos of my latest creation with you all. Youโ€™re not going to believe it!

Until next time, stay fabulous, and donโ€™t forget to wear pink and twirl!

Lots of love,

Emma xx www.pink-tutu.com
