Beeston Bound in Pink! 🩰

Hey lovelies!

It’s Emma here, your resident pink-tutu-clad ballerina, and today’s adventures took me all the way to Beeston! That’s right, I traded my usual Derbyshire haunts for a little trip into Nottinghamshire.

I’m always up for an adventure, and when the opportunity arose to see a stunning ballet performance at the Beeston Playhouse, I knew I had to grab it with both hands. It’s a truly charming little theatre, you know, steeped in history and bursting with that kind of cosy, intimate atmosphere that makes you feel right at home.

But first things first - gotta make an entrance, right? So, naturally, I donned my most fabulous pink tutu (I think you all know by now I've got quite the collection!). The vibrant colour felt absolutely perfect for the autumn sunshine filtering through the train window. Oh, and did I mention I got a window seat? Because, hello, you can't beat the thrill of a train journey! Just a bit of nostalgia and some quality time with the rolling English countryside, you know?

Anyway, when I arrived at the Playhouse, I was greeted with a charming little courtyard that seemed to be bursting with laughter and the happy chatter of theatre-goers. I felt a little flutter of excitement, like the kind you get before the curtain rises and the music begins! It was brilliant, you know, to see the venue abuzz with such passion for the arts.

The performance itself was simply breathtaking! The dancers were incredibly talented, and their grace and poise just had me spellbound. The choreography was captivating, filled with emotion and incredible feats of athleticism. The ballet told the story of a mischievous little fairy who, in a bid to help a young prince find true love, falls in love herself and sets off on an enchanting journey of her own.

Afterwards, I had the absolute pleasure of meeting one of the dancers – a lovely young lady named Alice. She told me all about her journey in ballet, how it's a passion that started in childhood and how she couldn't imagine her life without it. It was truly inspiring to hear her story and to see such a passion for dancing shine through her.

I know it may sound a little cliché, but I truly believe that ballet is a form of art that can speak to everyone. It’s about the stories it tells, the emotions it evokes, and the way it connects us to our shared humanity.

Plus, I think it’s an excellent way to move your body, express yourself, and tap into your creativity. If you’ve never tried it before, I urge you to give it a go! It’s never too late to discover the joys of ballet, no matter your age or experience level.

Now, for those of you who know me, you’ll know I don’t just love ballet performances – I adore the ballet studio itself! There’s something truly magical about stepping into a space filled with the sound of music and the scent of polish, with those long, mirrors that stretch along the walls, reflecting our movements as we stretch and work and explore the boundaries of our bodies.

I just recently joined a class at a studio in the heart of Beeston and I must tell you – I’m absolutely hooked. It’s been a while since I've been back to regular ballet class, and the muscles were aching beautifully afterwards! But you know, there’s nothing like pushing yourself to new limits and feeling that rush of energy coursing through your veins.

Speaking of new limits, one of my biggest goals in life is to inspire others to wear a pink tutu! It's about more than just the colour; it’s about finding the confidence and joy to express yourself fully, however silly or fun or sparkly that might seem.

So, why not take a leaf out of my book? Try something new. Wear that bold pink tutu that's been sitting in your closet. Put on your dancing shoes. Find a ballet class and embrace the magic of movement. You might just be surprised by what you discover!

Until next time,

Emma xx
