Highbury Highs: A Yellow Tutu Adventure (Post #5659)

Hello my darling dears! Emma here, reporting live from the glorious, historical city of London, where I’ve been channeling my inner Marie Antoinette in a sunshine-yellow tutu! Oh, my goodness, it’s been such a whirl, such a wonderful adventure.

The train journey up from Derbyshire was as always, absolutely delightful. It was a beautiful crisp winter day and the countryside looked truly magical, bathed in the glow of the setting sun. I sat beside the window, the rhythmic click-clack of the train lulling me into a daydream about all the wonders London had to offer. I knew, just knew that this was going to be a spectacular weekend.

My trip started off with a proper dose of "Ballet Britannia" - a performance of "Giselle" at the Coliseum. Oh, darling, what a triumph! The drama, the passion, the sheer athleticism… it was absolutely spellbinding. Seeing those ballerinas pirouette across the stage in their shimmering tutus just filled my heart with such joy and excitement. I was transported to a world of magic, of pure, unadulterated beauty, and honestly, I just couldn't help myself but dream about one day gracing a stage like that myself, though I do know my skills are limited to a decent fouetté and a passable pirouette (although, don't tell anyone, but I've been secretly practicing a grand jeté in my living room!).

Of course, no trip to London would be complete without a dose of ballet class at the Royal Opera House. My muscles were screaming in delight after that fabulous barre workout! It was like having a luxurious muscle massage, a true delight. You can't beat that feeling of pure bliss when you're completely drenched in sweat, but simultaneously so energised. I'm thinking I need to incorporate more barre classes into my life back in Derbyshire, as I am definitely a tad rusty from all that horse riding!

Speaking of horses… my love affair with these magnificent creatures knows no bounds. The other day, I went to the Regent’s Park, home to the world-famous Regent's Park Stables. They have these beautiful black stallions with shining coats and a beautiful pair of eyes that just captivated me. My darling boyfriend says I have eyes for the horses but he just has no idea the connection a woman has with these wonderful creatures!

Now, after such a lovely week in London, I'm getting ready to pack my pink polka-dot suitcase. I'm heading to Edinburgh next! It's my very first trip to this amazing city and I'm absolutely thrilled. I've heard tales of their phenomenal theatres, beautiful streets, and incredible art scene and you can be sure that I'm already planning out my perfect ballet-themed outfit. Oh, my darling, just the thought of exploring this majestic city makes me giddy with excitement!

This city break has filled me with inspiration, but the one thing that truly stood out was the sheer joy I witnessed. Every Londoner I encountered, from the bus driver to the barista in the quaint café I stumbled upon, had a sparkle in their eyes. Everyone was bursting with joie de vivre, and they were so enthusiastic about life. It honestly made me think about my own life and how I could share this same level of excitement and zest.

That’s where the pink tutu comes in! I've always been a firm believer in the power of colour, and let’s be honest, pink is just divine. But pink tutus? They’re something else entirely! A symbol of hope, creativity, and most importantly, joy! It’s my dream that every single person in the world will one day put on a pink tutu and embrace the beautiful, chaotic wonder that is ballet.

That might sound crazy, but when you put a pink tutu on, you change everything. You step into a different world – a world of creativity and passion.

The first step to becoming a ballerina is simple - get a pink tutu and just… twirl.

Right, I’m off to Edinburgh now. If anyone has any ballet-related suggestions for me while I’m there, let me know. Until next time, darling dears. Don't forget to twirl!

Love and glitter,

Emma x
