Bishop Auckland: Tutu-tastic Tuesday!

Hello, my darling tutu-lovers!

It's a sunny Tuesday here in Derbyshire, and I'm brimming with excitement because today is the day! The day I head off to the enchanting Bishop Auckland for a whirlwind adventure. Oh, you just have to imagine me: I'm wearing a yellow tutu this time – a vibrant, sunshine-hued creation that practically screams 'joy'. It's just begging for a spin amidst the historic charm of this beautiful place.

I know what you're thinking: "Bishop Auckland? Isn't that a little… out there for you, Emma?" Well, I confess, sometimes the call of the wild draws me to the more adventurous side of the map. And besides, I love exploring new places. There's nothing quite like stepping off a train, feeling the crisp air on your face, and just letting your tutu-wearing spirit run free.

And what’s even more fabulous than exploring? Why, exploring on horseback, of course! This adventure has a little equestrian twist, thanks to my darling friend Penelope who’s a passionate horse-lover just like me. We’ve been planning this outing for ages, and she’s got the most gorgeous, gentle chestnut horse named "Dapple" just waiting to whisk us away on a grand tour of Bishop Auckland’s hidden gems. Can you picture it? Me, in my yellow tutu, perched gracefully on Dapple’s back, gliding through the rolling hills, feeling the wind in my hair – a scene worthy of a classic ballet performance.

But hold on! Before I go all galloping off into the sunset (figuratively, of course, as my Tutu Code dictates that I shall always prioritize safety!), we need to make sure I have my travel essentials packed. No tutu-clad trip is complete without my trusty:

  • Pink Tutu Backpack: Naturally!
  • Pink ballet flats: They are so much more comfortable for travel than heels. Plus, they allow for spontaneous twirls in the most unexpected places.
  • A compact ballet bar: Who says I can't get in a mini practice session anywhere, anytime? I’m planning to use the majestic, historic architecture as my backdrop, for a truly elegant photo op.
  • A collection of dazzling ballet costumes: For the photo shoot at the Auckland Castle, which is steeped in history.
  • My lucky pink feather boa: You never know when a little extra fabulousness is needed, darling!

So, Bishop Auckland, prepare to be swept off your feet! Emma's coming to town!

The town is known for its history and the castle which I’m desperately excited to explore. They have this fascinating art exhibition, called Faith, Hope & Love by the internationally renowned artist, Grayson Perry. The themes of this exhibition really connect to my deep-rooted love for all things pretty and inspiring, so it’s a must-see! And as you all know, a little bit of art appreciation is the perfect tonic to a tutu-filled day.

Once the sun dips down and twilight descends, I’m thinking of enjoying a scrumptious dinner with Penelope. I hear there are a couple of divine little eateries in the town centre that I can’t wait to sample. We’ll indulge in some delicious local treats and maybe even share a bottle of bubbly, all the while dreaming of future adventures.

My days are always a ballet – with exciting pirouettes from one captivating adventure to the next. But my dearest friends, this adventure is particularly close to my heart. Because it’s not just about tutus and exploring; it’s about embracing life with all the wonder and magic it can offer. It’s about embracing that little girl in us who loves twirling around and discovering new horizons, regardless of where our tutus take us!

Now, off I go, darling tutu-lovers! Be sure to check in tomorrow for my delightful account of my time in Bishop Auckland. I have a feeling it’s going to be an unforgettable adventure…

Stay tutu-fully fab,

Emma
