Colchester Calling: Pink Tutu Adventures in Essex! πŸ©°πŸ’–

Hey loves! πŸ‘‹

It's Emma here, your pink tutu-wearing, ballet-obsessed blogger, and I'm SO excited to share my latest adventure with you! This is post number 5717, and it's all about my recent trip to Colchester, a beautiful little town in Essex, which has a fascinating history (who knew, right?!). Now, as a Derbyshire girl at heart, you might be thinking 'Essex? Really, Emma?' but let me tell you, it was absolutely charming and more importantly, it provided the perfect backdrop for some serious tutu twirling. πŸ’–

But first, a confession. You know how I love to travel? Well, this trip wasn't all about ballet. This time, I took the train – yes, the train, folks! - up north and joined forces with my dearest friend, Lucy, and her two adorable miniature dachshunds, Peanut and Pepper, for a countryside escape. It felt positively idyllic, and I even got to experience the countryside life a little, with a morning stroll through fields teeming with wildlife, the sounds of birdsong filling the air (and a rather insistent cow mooing!). I may have even tried my hand at a bit of horseriding, but I'm not sure Lucy was entirely impressed with my equestrian skills. 🐎🀣 We still had an amazing time though, bonding with those delightful doggos, Pepper and Peanut - it really brought back lovely memories of childhood with my family’s furry friends. The best bit was how those furry little sausages made such adorable, goofy faces as they snuggled up in my pink tutu after my ride!

But let's get back to ballet. We couldn't resist a trip to the local theatre in Colchester. And let me tell you, their program was bursting with theatrical goodies – everything from contemporary dance shows to Shakespeare! But what really got my tutu in a twirl was their fantastic ballet season. They were hosting a stunning production of Swan Lake and it was SO incredibly inspiring. You guys, it was one of those shows that truly blows you away. 🦒❀️ And what better way to end a day at the theatre than with a cheeky (and entirely necessary) stop for a giant milkshake with the most amazing toppings?! πŸ˜‹ I may have been slightly giddy after that sugary treat!

Speaking of giddiness, I just HAVE to share with you the highlight of my Colchester trip: the Colchester Ballet Centre. They had these incredible drop-in classes for adults and I literally ran in, desperate to dance like nobody was watching. Turns out, the entire room was absolutely packed! People of all ages were there, each and every one of them beaming with joy, twirling away with passion and enthusiasm. 🩰🀩

Now, here's the thing, the world needs more pink tutus. That's my personal mission, guys. Because why be boring when you can be bursting with colour and joy?! It's all about finding your inner sparkle and letting it shine, no matter what anyone else says. It's about pushing boundaries, embracing life with open arms, and reminding ourselves to find joy in the simplest things, like twirling around a stage, in the park, or even in your own living room. Who needs an audience, right? πŸ˜‰

The best thing about ballet is that it's a beautiful blend of strength and grace. It doesn’t matter what you look like, what your age is, or what shape or size you are – it’s a chance to be free, to explore your body, and to push your boundaries, one pirouette at a time.

But the Colchester ballet class didn't end there! They actually gave me an invitation to teach a class for the community, all those aspiring dancers. I immediately jumped at the opportunity – how could I refuse? After all, my mission is to inspire more people to try ballet. Imagine, all these people, embracing this beautiful form of dance. And honestly, teaching them felt incredible. Seeing these bright faces, listening to their questions, and witnessing their commitment – it was just magical!

We giggled, we stretched, and we had such a beautiful, positive experience together.

And, of course, no visit to Colchester would be complete without indulging in some local cuisine. I couldn't resist a scrumptious seafood platter and a delightful English breakfast, both served with that classic British warmth and charm you only find in places like this.

And finally, Colchester wouldn't be a real trip without me capturing some gorgeous Instagram-worthy moments. It was bursting with those vibrant, charming English vibes. Imagine: a quaint cobbled street with adorable shopfronts, pastel colours bouncing around in every direction, historic churches with their towers reaching towards the sky. πŸ“Έ It was like walking through a fairytale!

And of course, I took my tutu with me! I think you know I wouldn’t dream of travelling without it! It's my go-to accessory for capturing the perfect shot and for creating beautiful memories along the way. So, Colchester, I think I'm in love!

That’s my Essex adventure in a nutshell, folks. If you're looking for a charming little getaway, a little ballet inspiration, or just want to see a glimpse of the English countryside, then Colchester is the place for you.

Stay fabulous, you lot! πŸ’•πŸ’–

Until next time, Emma xx
