Hastings: Tutu Adventures by the Sea (Post #5738)

Hello my darlings! It's Emma here, and I'm absolutely buzzing with excitement to share my latest adventure with you! After a blissful train journey - which involved me admiring the countryside and its fluffy sheep in my glorious pink tutu (naturally) - I found myself in Hastings, the beautiful coastal town known for its colourful history and, well, for being just generally utterly charming.

Today was all about embracing that 'holiday vibe' whilst still making time for my beloved ballet. My day began with a spot of breakfast - the finest croissant in the world - whilst gazing out at the sparkling sea, which seemed to be twinkling under the sunshine. The view, much like a tutu, was simply breathtaking!

I couldn't wait to explore the town, and I decided a horse-drawn carriage was the perfect mode of transport, wouldn't you agree? I imagine it's how princesses used to travel! I certainly felt like one with the wind blowing through my hair and my fluffy pink tutu twirling around me as we ambled along. I couldn't resist striking a pose in front of the iconic Hastings Castle - I'm sure you'll see it on my Instagram feed later!

But a day at the seaside wouldn't be complete without some seaside treats, right? After all, ballet dancers need their energy! My favourite part? Seeing the local fishermen pull in their catches - oh the freshest fish you ever did see. It inspired me to whip up a delightful little fish dish for lunch (recipe on the blog tomorrow!). I'm trying to make healthy choices whenever possible, you know, to stay as fit as a fiddle!

Speaking of fish, after lunch I headed to the Hastings Pier and - guess what - I spotted a gorgeous array of little penguins at the local wildlife park. Penguins wearing tutus! The world really is a magical place, don't you think? You just never know what treasures you'll stumble upon when you're exploring, especially in a town as charming as Hastings.

After my wildlife adventure, I was itching to do a bit of ballet. After all, one mustn't neglect one's training! There was a delightful little studio called 'Dancing Dreams' in the heart of Hastings. It was a quaint little space filled with the intoxicating scent of sawdust and, yes, that familiar scent of ballet shoes! I did a little impromptu session, feeling so graceful and free - much like the gulls circling overhead.

And my darlings, I mustn't forget my absolute highlight! It was the incredible 'Dance by the Sea' festival. Imagine: a stage perched upon the beach with the sun setting as dancers from all over the world perform their hearts out. It was utterly magical.

Let me tell you, there was everything from contemporary to ballet to street dance - each style just as enchanting as the last. I was especially moved by a street dance performance which showcased such breathtakingly fluid movement. It reminded me that ballet isn't just about graceful leaps and twirls; it's about expressing oneself through the art of movement in every form. It really set my creative juices flowing, so be sure to check out my next blog post for a dance choreography inspired by this magnificent festival!

Now, before I sign off, a little challenge for you, my darlings! How about we bring the Hastings spirit to the rest of the world? Why not go on a little adventure yourself, wear a pink tutu (or maybe even try a ballet class!), and be inspired by the sights, the sounds, and the unique charm of Hastings? You won't regret it!

Until next time, stay gorgeous and twirl your way through life. Lots of love from Emma xoxo
