Chatham Calling: Tutu Travels, Pink Perfection & Pigeons!

Hello, darlings! Emma here, back from a whirlwind trip to Chatham, Kent. It was all ballet, pink tutus, and the most delightful pigeon encounter ever - and I wouldn't have had it any other way.

If you know me, you know my motto is "tutu travel." Every trip has to involve a sprinkle of dance, and this one certainly did. As soon as I got to Chatham, I donned my new hot pink tutu. Oh, it's absolutely divine, a delicate tulle, it swirls so beautifully!

The first stop, of course, had to be a dance class at the Chatham Dance Centre. Imagine, twirling under a vintage chandelier, with the scent of old wooden floors in the air - it was sheer magic. I just can't get enough of the feel of those classic studios. I practically giggled with delight as I worked through the grand allegro combinations. Even a little pink tutu like me could manage the triple pirouettes!

But my love of ballet isn't just confined to the studio. That evening, I headed to the historic Theatre Royal to catch the opening night of 'Swan Lake'. The stage was breathtaking, the choreography exquisite, the music simply divine. And I have to admit, I nearly wept during the Black Swan pas de deux - the emotions just poured through me! But afterwards, it was straight back to the station to hop on a charming steam train. My heart belongs to railways, and travelling through the Kentish countryside, watching the world whizz past was utterly magical. I felt like I was a ballerina in one of those enchanting vintage movies, only, you know, a whole lot more pink!

I do believe my pink tutu had quite an effect on everyone. Passengers kept smiling and waving, and even the stationmaster had to give a polite nod in my direction. The lovely gentleman on the train even told me he'd once seen his great-grandaunt perform in 'Swan Lake', Right there and then, I realised: every trip, every adventure, can be a journey towards getting everyone in the world wearing a pink tutu!

On my adventures, I also happened upon the cutest family of pigeons. Now, don't get me wrong, pigeons don't have the best reputation, but these guys were just too adorable to resist. They cooed and bowed to my little tutu with the most incredible grace and even gave me a tiny white feather - as if it were a tribute to the 'Swan Lake'. I like to imagine they even took inspiration from me for their strutting around the town!

A trip to Chatham isn't complete without indulging in some delicious local treats. My favourites: a delectable raspberry bakewell and a refreshing afternoon tea served with warm scones. It truly felt like stepping into a whimsical fairy tale. I was so charmed by the local crafts, too. From handmade jewellery to quirky antiques, it was a treasure hunter's paradise. I can see myself wearing that hand-painted butterfly brooch with my new pink tutu...

You know, I really do believe in the power of ballet and pink. Every time I go to a new town, I find a new reason to share my passion with the world. It’s like a giant pink ribbon connecting us all – twirling, skipping, and creating beautiful memories, one pink tutu at a time.

This week, I’m going to be indulging in some beautiful equine activities. My beloved Derbyshire is famous for its horse riding trails, and I already have my pink riding boots and tutu planned out. Who knows, maybe we will be able to put together a lovely dance performance - with horses! I'll let you know all about it in my next post! Until then, be sure to get your twirls on and keep the world as pink as you can!

Lots of love,

Emma xo
