Crewe Calling! #TutuBlog Post 5764

Hey lovelies! 👋

It's your favourite pink tutu-loving, ballet-obsessed gal, Emma, checking in from sunny Crewe! Yep, you heard that right. I've swapped the rolling hills of Derbyshire for the railway heartland of Cheshire – a proper whirlwind tour!

As always, my fabulous pink tutu is in tow, and trust me, it's causing a stir amongst the Crewe folk! 😉 I might even be responsible for converting a couple of blokes to the power of pink… one can only hope!

Anyway, let me tell you, this trip started with a bang! I caught the train from Derby, of course, nestled amongst a pack of fluffy lambs in the carriage, because who says ballet girls can't be adventurous?! It felt so chic, so me - even more so because of the delightful view of rolling countryside as the train snaked through the countryside. You could almost see the fairies dancing in the fields! 🩰

Crewe itself was a little bit different to what I'm used to – more industrial than idyllic. But it has a certain charm, and the train station was a thing of beauty. I couldn't help but think how many magical journeys had started right there, bringing dreams to life and spreading the ballet bug. I had to capture the scene with a couple of snaps – just to remind me of all the adventures ahead!

My mission this time: exploring Crewe's ballet scene! It's not your typical hotbed of tutus, I know, but the rumour mill had been buzzing about a special workshop at the local theatre. Imagine my delight when I found out it was a "Ballet Street" class! Now, I may love classic ballet, but Ballet Street is like the fun younger sister that wants to try everything. This class combines elements of classical ballet with modern and contemporary dance styles, street dance, and even some circus skills. It's like a dance party for everyone, and that's precisely the kind of energy I live for.

I walked into the theatre, my heart already doing a pirouette, and it just kept getting better. The instructor, a lovely woman named Chloe, welcomed us with open arms and a bright pink tutu! (Isn't it funny how pink keeps cropping up in my life?!) She immediately set the tone with a burst of upbeat music, and suddenly, everyone was jumping and twirling with joyful abandon! I even learned a killer move involving a handstand – that’s going straight into my Instagram story, I tell you!

After class, I felt like I could fly! I’m not kidding, that's how much energy I had buzzing around me. We even had a mini “Tutu Tea” with the other dancers – a great opportunity to chat about all things ballet and pink! You wouldn’t believe how many other women have been secretly wanting to wear pink tutus their whole lives. It's a mission for us all – let’s take over the world, one tutu at a time!

But my day didn't end there, oh no! After a delicious (and oh so pink) lunch, I found myself wandering the cobbled streets of Crewe, admiring the historic architecture and the lovely green spaces tucked between the bustling streets. There were pigeons, sparrows, and even a little robin with the reddest chest you've ever seen - oh, the beauty!

Honestly, Crewe wasn't quite what I expected, but it stole my heart anyway. It's a reminder that magic can be found in unexpected places, especially if you’re willing to wear a pink tutu and have some fun.

Of course, no ballet-lover would go to a town without seeing a show, right? I headed to the Crewe Lyceum Theatre in the evening, ready for a proper theatre experience. You wouldn’t believe what they had lined up – "The Nutcracker" ballet in a unique street performance format! It was a bit surreal to be surrounded by urban streetscapes instead of traditional backdrops, but it truly brought the magic of Christmas to life in a new way. I even found myself getting swept away by the emotion of the dance and feeling like a child again. It was such a joyful spectacle.

Overall, Crewe has become one of my favourite stops on my ballet tour so far! The city's heart was so welcoming and genuine, just like the people who welcomed me with open arms. If you're ever looking for an exciting, unusual ballet adventure, add Crewe to your list!

Until next time, lovelies! 💕
