Kettering Calling: Italian Tutus & The Joy of Trains

#TutuBlog Post 5801

Hello my lovelies! Today’s blog post is all about my recent trip to Kettering! Now, you might be thinking, “Emma, Kettering?! What’s in Kettering?” Well, to be honest, I had absolutely no idea myself until my dear friend, Sarah, invited me to accompany her on a whirlwind adventure to see the Kettering Ballet Theatre. Sarah, as you know, is my fellow tutu-loving soulmate. So naturally, I packed my pinkest, most fabulous tutu, ready to see what wonders Kettering held.

Speaking of tutus, before we even got to Kettering, the trip was full of tutus! You see, Sarah and I decided to travel by train (it's all about those vintage carriages and the views for me!), and on our journey, we met the most adorable group of ballerinas – all sporting their very own tutus, they were on their way to a dance competition in Milton Keynes! It was absolutely magical seeing their little, twirling forms on the train!

Now, let me tell you, even the station itself was adorned with vibrant blooms, like something out of a Monet painting! A symphony of vibrant pink, peach, and apricot hues – all these colors absolutely stole my heart! Kettering definitely got off to a fabulous start!

And then there was Kettering Ballet Theatre. They weren’t just a ballet company – they were a vibrant hub for all things dance, a sanctuary of graceful movements and a place where joy danced on the stage. The moment we stepped into the auditorium, a sense of magic filled the air!

What made the night even more extraordinary was the story Sarah told me about Kettering Ballet Theatre. It seems it was founded in the late 1800s and its been inspiring local dancers ever since. Sarah, being the avid ballet fanatic that she is, knew the history of the place inside out! This just added a special dimension to the whole experience.

Then came the performance itself! Imagine, darling, my eyes were glued to the stage, enthralled by the breathtaking artistry and passion the dancers poured into every step! It was such an eclectic performance too. The first piece was a graceful and emotional portrayal of love and loss, choreographed by one of the youngest and upcoming choreographers, an absolute star in the making! The next one? It had such playful energy, the tutus, oh my, they were like beautiful flowers in a vibrant garden. It truly had us all captivated, me and my tutu included!

Of course, we couldn't resist getting a little pink in our own right. I found the cutest little Italian boutique on the main high street in Kettering, just off the square. It was chock-full of the most beautiful silk, lace, and embroidery. It's not often you find a place where you can get custom-made tutus for your perfect look. Imagine, the sheer, flowing material - a symphony of fabric - making each dancer's movement so beautifully visual, almost like the Italian Renaissance art I fell in love with during my last trip to Rome! I even bought myself the most beautiful pink tutu there, made just for me! You’ll see it in an upcoming post, darling.

Talking about perfect, even the Kettering Square itself was an absolute darling! Cobblestone pathways, charming flower boxes filled with fragrant blossoms – the epitome of old-world charm! We even saw a group of ducks, they were absolutely darling – quacking along so innocently, just adding to the general air of serenity! I even managed to catch a fleeting glimpse of a charming squirrel scampering across the park - oh my! I just love seeing these beautiful, wild creatures going about their day.

So, in summary, darling, my trip to Kettering was absolutely unforgettable. From the little ballerinas on the train to the incredible dance performance, to the darling little Italian tutu store and charming, cobblestone streets - every aspect was truly remarkable. I’ve already planned to come back next year for another dose of that Kettering magic, and hopefully, I can inspire you to do the same.

Until next time, darlings, remember to always embrace your inner ballerina, be kind to everyone, and don't be afraid to let your own vibrant pink tutu shine!

Keep on twirling!

Love, Emma xx www.pink-tutu.com
