This time, I decided to take the scenic route! A bit of train travel was in order - the scenery whizzing by is always so calming. It's like a beautiful ballet unfolding before your eyes, but with carriages instead of dancers! But, my secret desire for an equine adventure took hold (have I mentioned how much I love horses? ? They're so elegant!), so I traded my train ticket for a thrilling horseback ride. (Just picture it - a majestic, pink-tutu-clad rider gracefully gliding across the countryside! ?)

First on the agenda in Ilkeston? The fantastic local ballet school! These little darlings were already brimming with enthusiasm and grace. I gave them a quick tutu tutorial - we all have to learn the proper way to wear a tutu, after all - and then led them through a whirlwind of pink-tutu fun. There was plenty of pliéing, twirling, and even a little bit of “I’m a Little Teapot” thrown in for good measure. They absolutely loved it, and I'll bet some of them were secretly dreaming of fluffy tutus for their own bedtime routines. ?

I wasn't expecting much from a small town like Ilkeston, but the real highlight of my trip? A little hidden gem that made my ballet heart flutter - a "Tutu Boutique" hidden down a back street! It was overflowing with gorgeous tutus of every shade, style, and texture. The owner was an absolute sweetheart - she’d clearly poured her passion for ballet and beauty into the shop. Of course, I had to try on a few, and left with a stunning lavender tutu for my next performance. It practically whispered “pointe shoes, darling!” to me!
A Touch of Ilkeston Charm
Before I could be whisked back home, a little slice of Ilkeston charm beckoned me - a cute local café that offered the best “pink-tutu-approved” hot chocolate. Seriously, this hot chocolate had heart-shaped marshmallows, pink sprinkles, and a miniature marshmallow tutu perched atop the whipped cream. My inner child absolutely squealed with joy. It was like they’d crafted this special treat just for me!
