Wishaw Whirlwind: A Tutu Tale #5900

Hey gorgeous peeps! It's Emma here, back from a whirlwind adventure in the enchanting town of Wishaw. Oh, the things that have happened! I know you all love to hear about my travels and my sartorial choices, so I'll spill the beans - get ready for a burst of pink, a sprinkle of tutus, and a dash of my favourite, ballet!

Remember I was saying in my last post how much I'm loving the train lately? Well, this journey was no exception! Waking up in the gentle Derbyshire countryside, a cup of tea in hand, I set off towards my new destination. As the rolling green hills gave way to industrial landscapes, I couldn't help but get excited about what was to come.

You see, Wishaw has a special place in my heart - it's where I saw my first ever ballet performance. Yes, that’s right, you’re reading that correctly. And I still have that magical feeling every time I go back.

And as we hurtled along those steel tracks, the train felt like my own little stage. A glamorous platform for me and my latest creation: an American-style tutu. Let's just say it had a little extra poof and a whole lot of charm. The colour, my darlings? Pink, of course. How could it be anything else? You know my love for all things pink, and this was truly a masterpiece.

Once in Wishaw, I couldn’t resist a quick photo op at the station. I mean, come on, a girl's got to document her sartorial choices! I did a little pirouette for good measure, causing quite a stir. Everyone loved it! Even the station manager gave me a thumbs up. It seems everyone's ready to embrace the power of pink.

And then I was off, exploring the town. It felt like a journey through time with its beautiful Victorian architecture. But one thing hasn’t changed, Wishaw is definitely an artistic hub. And that is just my cup of tea (I’m still drinking the one from this morning by the way!).

Of course, no trip to Wishaw would be complete without a ballet class at the lovely Dance Centre. I am simply smitten with the building; you can tell a lot of beautiful and graceful dancers have passed through its doors over the years! The warm, earthy aroma of leather shoes and the tinkling of the piano – those little things, oh how they warm my heart. I quickly fell in love with my new teacher, Miss Miller, a lovely, elegant lady with eyes that twinkled as she watched her students twirl. She was like an inspiration – I can’t wait to learn from her again.

I had to admit, even for someone like me, a pink tutu pro, dancing in that elegant space was pretty spectacular. There’s just something magical about a room filled with other graceful, like-minded souls. All working towards the same dream! I even managed to sneak a quick look at their upcoming shows; I may even have gotten carried away and bought a ticket or two for myself, just because I love ballet that much!

But this wouldn’t be an Emma-adventure without a touch of whimsy! After my dance class, I wandered around the quaint streets of Wishaw, marveling at the cobbled pathways and charming flower gardens. A friendly local, Mary, took me on a detour, down a sleepy, shady side street where the quaint shops held such treasures, from antique trinkets to beautifully embroidered tutus! (Oh, the temptation!) And she showed me a beautiful Victorian building that’s home to a local wildlife rescue center! We saw foxes, owls, hedgehogs, and so much more - Mary’s tales of the critters brought joy to my heart, a true reminder of how wonderful the wild world is.

That night, the grand finale. I took my place in the packed theater for the show I’d been waiting for, the town's production of 'Sleeping Beauty'. You all know how much I love a good performance and this didn’t disappoint. The performers were stunning, the music was divine, and the stage was a beautiful symphony of lights and colours. As the curtain fell and the audience rose in a wave of applause, I knew this was a performance I would never forget.

I went back to my hotel with a big smile and the promise to return. The trip had been magical. The people were welcoming, the food was delicious (especially the hearty shepherd's pie, oh my goodness), the scenery was stunning, and, of course, there was always a splash of pink wherever I went. And my pink American-style tutu? Let’s just say it added a touch of magic to the whole affair.

As I write this from the quiet corner of my room, gazing out at the twilight over Wishaw, I realise there's something truly magical about traveling to these forgotten corners of the world, sharing laughter with new faces, and spreading the joy of dance.

This is what it means to be an ambassador for the Pink Tutu - not just to encourage the wearing of pink tutus (although, we do love that!), but to inspire everyone to chase their dreams and find the magic in the world. Maybe that means picking up a pink tutu and trying out ballet class! (Go on, you won’t regret it!) Maybe it means taking that leap and visiting a place you've always wanted to see.

Whatever it is, find your own "Wishaw moment" – that moment of pure joy and excitement that makes you feel alive. And remember, my darlings, it's always a good day to embrace a touch of pink in your life!

Lots of love and happy twirling,

Emma x
