Bulwell Bound in Bubblegum Pink: TutuBlog Post #5902

Hey there, darlings! Emma here, your resident pink-tutu-loving ballerina, ready to whisk you away on a whirlwind adventure – and this time, it’s a journey to Bulwell! Now, you might be thinking, “Bulwell? But darling, what could possibly be so fabulous about Bulwell?” And I hear you! I'm a Derbyshire girl through and through, but let’s face it, Bulwell isn’t exactly the first place that comes to mind when you’re daydreaming about fashion and dance.

But as you all know, my motto is, “Pink tutus conquer all!” And where there’s a pink tutu to be twirled, a ballet class to attend, or even a cute little hedgehog to be befriended, well, I'm there. This little adventure actually started with a tweet from my dear friend, Olivia. Olivia is the most wonderful artist and a bit of a whizz with needle and thread. She’s actually made a tutu for me - it's the most gorgeous shade of raspberry pink imaginable, adorned with sequins and beads. It's a proper showstopper, if I do say so myself!

Anyway, she tweeted me to ask if I fancied visiting a special fabric store in Bulwell – they've apparently got the most divine silk and chiffon, just perfect for a bespoke tutu. She swore that she could fashion me a new creation that would blow everyone's socks off. Oh, the possibilities! So, with the excitement of a five-year-old in a candy store, I knew what I had to do. A journey to Bulwell, here I come!

Since I'm all about embracing the romance of travel, I decided to make the trip in style. No, not by car or bus, oh no! This call for a grand, elegant, and definitely more environmentally-friendly approach – by train, darling! I slipped on my most fetching frock (a little black number with a touch of lace, of course!), carefully wrapped my raspberry-pink tutu in its protective box, and boarded the train. As usual, my trusty carriage was adorned with charming countryside scenes. Oh, I love the English countryside, all those rolling green hills, quaint cottages, and cute little hedgehogs. The hedgehog is a creature that holds a special place in my heart, you know, all cuddly and full of character. There's a bit of a wildlife enthusiast in me, I must admit.

Bulwell station, upon arrival, was... well, let’s say it had a certain rustic charm. A far cry from the glitz and glamour of a West End theatre, but hey, I like to see the beauty in everything! My trusty companion, Pip, followed me off the train with his usual flair (for a grey tabby, he sure knows how to work a collar). Pip is my ultimate fashion accessory – and yes, he loves pink too, although he does prefer to express it through his feline eyes rather than a full-fledged tutu.

Off we set on a short jaunt, and Olivia was waiting for us, beaming. "Ready to be blown away?" she asked. And my dear, I can safely say she wasn't kidding. That fabric store was like a giant treasure chest bursting with beauty! They had silks in every imaginable colour, chiffons that flowed like silk water, and sequins that shimmered like a disco ball on a good night out. We spent hours giggling and playing with swatches, weaving stories about the incredible tutus we'd soon be creating.

After several (delicious!) tea and cakes at a quaint little cafe nearby, we headed to Olivia's studio. Oh, the excitement! The smell of fabric and thread is so calming, don't you think? The way it makes you feel all creative, full of new ideas… Anyway, it was time to get down to business and work some tutu magic! With each layer of fabric and each sparkle of sequin, I knew Olivia was creating a masterpiece. The fabric itself seemed to dance with the music that played in the background - my favourite classical ballet pieces, of course. I can't even begin to describe the sensation of trying on that new tutu! It was light as a feather, flowing like a cloud, and oh-so-pretty with its gorgeous, almost luminous raspberry colour.

We were both in such a frenzy of delight and inspiration that the evening flew by. And guess what? Olivia also surprised me with the most adorable pink hedgehog brooch - he was so realistic, it was almost spooky. Now, I just had to share all this with my lovely readers, so we found a charming pub, tucked away in a corner of Bulwell. Of course, it was decorated in the most beautiful shade of pink (it was meant to be!), and we had the best time chatting, laughing, and reminiscing about our grand tutu adventure.

As the evening came to an end, it was time for me to hop back on the train, carrying with me the excitement of new tutus and the joy of discovering hidden gems in unexpected places. Even the journey home felt more magical. The lights of the train windows seemed to reflect the sequins on my tutu, and Pip purred contentedly in my lap as if to say, “You were right, Emma, Bulwell was amazing!"

But my dearest friends, my adventure isn’t just about a pink tutu. It’s about embracing life with joy, exploring the world with open arms, and, of course, wearing your pink tutu wherever you go! The world needs more pink tutus, wouldn’t you agree? Because a little sparkle can change everything. And who knows, maybe even inspire someone to take a leap and join the ballet class. Because whether you’re pirouetting on a grand stage or in your own living room, let’s remember to dance like no one’s watching, to dream big, and always, always, wear pink.

Until next time, darling! Don’t forget to check out my daily tutu blog on www.pink-tutu.com.

XOXO,

Emma
