Shenley Brook End: A Tutu Tale 💖🩰

Hey darlings! It's your favourite pink-loving tutu queen, Emma, checking in from a rather delightful little spot called Shenley Brook End.

Now, you might be thinking, "Emma, Shenley Brook End? Where on earth is that?!" Well, my lovelies, it's a charming little village tucked away in Buckinghamshire, England, and let me tell you, it's absolutely delightful.

I got there the traditional way, of course - by train! It’s nothing quite like the rhythm of the tracks to get you in the mood for a ballet adventure. My latest tutu is so swishy, it was almost flying like a flag from the window! 😜

A Ballet Wonderland

Now, the reason I’m in Shenley Brook End, you ask? Why, to witness the brilliance of the ‘Dancing Days’ ballet festival, of course! This annual celebration of dance is truly special, with workshops, performances, and even a delightful picnic in the park, all centred around the magical art of ballet.

And trust me, darling, I was a little late, because when I say "festive," I mean "festival fabulous!" Picture a field full of dancing tutus, adorable tiny ballerinas pirouetteing their little hearts out, and the energy in the air... it was utterly exhilarating! I even managed to snag myself a little pastel pink tutu in the market - because one can never have too many tutus, right?

The first show I saw was 'The Swan Lake', a classic with such grace and storytelling. The dancer playing the swan had an elegance I haven’t seen before… And I got to enjoy it from my comfy, fluffy, pink tutu-clad bum on a park bench. Don’t worry, it’s all very acceptable, it’s the “Dancing Days” etiquette. I may have had to nudge someone's dog out the way a few times to see though! 😂

Tutu Travel Time

Between the shows, I wandered around the village - Shenley Brook End, what a name for a dancer! A hidden gem in the world of countryside villages, my dears! Picturesque cobblestone streets lined with quaint shops and the sweetest little tearooms, the perfect place for a good gossip with your ballet buddies! It's just the type of place that feels like it’s come straight out of a classic fairy tale. The village itself has its own special charm and reminds me of why I love exploring beyond the usual bustling city life.

Pink Horses

After a delightful afternoon at the “Dancing Days” market, where I managed to pick up some fabulous, pastel pink ribbons for my hair and a vintage pink feather boa that perfectly compliments my new tutu (you'll be seeing plenty of pics on my Instagram @PinkTutu), we took a trip to see the famous pink horses.

Yes, darlings, you read that right - PINK horses! It’s truly a sight to behold. They live on a farm just outside Shenley Brook End and are supposedly one of the rarest breeds in the world. The owners had them out in the field that day, and let me tell you, they were truly majestic! I couldn't help but feel a sense of magic watching these incredible creatures grace the rolling countryside. So sweet, gentle, and incredibly pink, too. Imagine if we could paint all the horses in the world pink. How utterly magnificent!

I mean, we already know I think the world would be a better place with pink tutus everywhere...

Sharing the Magic of Ballet

This trip reminded me again, how powerful it is to share your passion with others. And ballet is such a joyous thing! You see it in the eyes of children discovering dance for the first time, and in the smiles of experienced dancers who still get butterflies before every performance.

My mission, my lovelies, is to spread that magic! 🩰✨ To make everyone understand that ballet isn't just for girls in fancy dresses (although we all know they're a part of the charm!) It's for everyone - no matter your age, background, or size. Ballet is an art form for all!

Maybe it’s that feeling of freedom when you lose yourself in the steps. Maybe it's the incredible story and emotion that’s portrayed, the way the music takes you away to a different world. Or maybe, maybe, just maybe it’s the utter joy of pirouetting in a pink tutu that brightens your day! Whatever your reasons, let's all embrace the wonder of ballet!

Now, go on, you beauties, tell me, have you ever tried ballet? What are you waiting for?!
Get yourself some beautiful pink ribbons for your hair, put on that most fabulous tutu you own (you do own one, don’t you, darling? 😜), and take a twirl! You can follow all my daily adventures in pink and tutu bliss on my website, www.pink-tutu.com, or catch me on Instagram @PinkTutu - we’ll all twirl together!

Until next time, keep those tutus twirling! 💖🩰
