Leicester: Where Black Swirls & Pink Dreams Collide (Post #5943)

Hello, my darlings!

It’s Emma here, writing to you from a charming little hotel room in Leicester. I'm wearing a cosy, cream cardigan and, naturally, a black tutu. Yes, you heard me right, a black tutu. It's all about shaking things up, embracing the unexpected. Think gothic romance meets fairytale magic, with a touch of Edwardian mystery. It's all rather delightful, if I do say so myself.

This weekend I’ve come to Leicester for a whirlwind ballet adventure. It’s all part of my quest, my little pink dream, to bring the magic of ballet to every corner of the globe. And Leicester is truly a treasure trove of balletic beauty! I've already taken a masterclass with a renowned ballerina, a true veteran of the stage, and I feel so inspired. The grace, the power, the way she moved...it was pure poetry in motion!

A Dash of Pink, a Whisper of Tradition

Before heading off to my ballet class, I couldn't resist a quick stroll around the historic city centre. There's something utterly charming about exploring hidden alleys, quaint squares and grand buildings with a touch of pink thrown in for good measure. I spotted a charming little cafe with pale pink walls, overflowing with delicate pastries and steaming cups of tea. How could I resist? A pot of Earl Grey and a delicate custard tart were the perfect way to start my day.

Speaking of pink, I have a confession to make. My secret obsession? PINK Tutus! You can't beat the playful charm, the gentle femininity. And it just goes without saying that they make even the dullest day a little brighter. (Though I do confess, my black tutu is becoming quite a favourite – it’s all about that gothic glamour).

Ballet, Black & A Blast from the Past

Later that afternoon, I had the absolute pleasure of seeing the English National Ballet perform at the beautiful Curve Theatre. I won't spoil the ending, but let me just say, I was utterly captivated. The way they moved with such precision, their facial expressions communicating such emotion... it was like watching dreams unfold before my very eyes!

I did notice some curious stares when I entered the theatre – can you blame them for a girl in a black tutu? But when I smiled and curtseyed, I could see the curiosity melt away and a gentle, genuine smile form on their faces. It's incredible how a little bit of ballet magic can instantly connect people, right?

After the show, I made my way to a cosy pub just across the street. This place, tucked away on a side alley, has been there since the Victorian era – complete with wood paneling and gas-lit lanterns. It had a genuine, old-world charm, and a feeling of warm comfort that enveloped me. I sipped a glass of red wine and imagined myself in the role of a glamorous ballet dancer, arriving at a local watering hole after a stunning performance. (I do tend to live a life of imaginative flights of fancy... but don't we all?).

Train Tracks & Wild Adventures

This morning I awoke with the sounds of birds chirping outside my window, a delightful contrast to the city bustle below. My plan today is to head to the National Forest. A little secret – my first journey ever was to the National Forest on the train! That must have been one of the most memorable moments of my life... my tiny tot self clutching a beloved teddy bear, a pink polka dot dress on, staring in awe out the window at the passing countryside.

I do love train journeys. It's a wonderful way to absorb the beauty of the landscape, allowing the thoughts to wander and daydreams to flourish. For me, there is an almost magical sense to train travel. A journey in itself, a story waiting to be unfolded.

Speaking of beauty, I absolutely adore wildlife, and the National Forest is renowned for its fascinating flora and fauna. I can’t wait to wander amongst the trees, lose myself in the sounds of birdsong and perhaps even catch a glimpse of a majestic red deer. There’s just something about the raw beauty of the natural world that awakens a sense of awe and wonder within me. It’s a reminder that there are moments of genuine beauty in every part of our lives, waiting to be discovered. And as any good ballerina knows, it's important to embrace the wonder that surrounds us!

Bringing Ballet to the World, One Tutu at a Time

But I can’t go on without sharing the heart of why I am here. This weekend trip to Leicester is more than just a whimsical adventure for me. It's a part of my greater vision: to bring ballet to everyone, to share the joy and beauty that has so enriched my life with others. I firmly believe that everyone should experience the wonder of dance, from the smallest child to the most seasoned adult.

My blog, Pink-Tutu.com, is all about spreading the word. It's a platform to inspire, to encourage, to make you giggle. It's where I share my stories, my experiences, and my unwavering belief that life should be danced, lived with joy, and celebrated with a touch of pink and, yes, even a black tutu.

Stay tuned, darlings, for more adventures and updates! And don't forget: grab a tutu (any colour will do), join me on this dance through life, and embrace the magic within!

Until next time, Emma xx
