High Wycombe, You Pinky Promise?

Post number: 5976

Hey darlings!

Guess who's back in the saddle again, well, not literally, unless we're talking about a very glamorous carriage. But you get the picture, I'm back from another fabulous adventure! This time it was High Wycombe, a charming little town I'd never visited before. And as always, I packed my trusty, oh-so-pink suitcase with a little bit of whimsy, a whole lot of tulle, and my absolute favourite black tutu.

This adventure was extra special because I was on a mission! It’s not a secret I love ballet (duh!) but it's become my personal mission to spread the joy of dancing across the land. And what better way to do it than by travelling to different towns and spreading the pink tutu gospel, one pirouette at a time?

The journey itself was already a delight! It’s just not the same without a little railway magic, wouldn’t you agree? The view whizzing past the window as the train sped towards High Wycombe felt like a ballet in itself, a beautiful blur of green countryside and red brick houses. It was the perfect scene for me to practise my pliés and relevés in the privacy of my little carriage. My pink cardigan made a lovely statement amidst all that navy blue upholstery.

High Wycombe welcomed me with open arms and a very impressive town centre. I simply adored the Victorian architecture, the beautiful church spire that seemed to touch the clouds, and the cobbled streets that begged to be twirled on. It was like stepping into a Jane Austen novel, except with a slightly pinker palette, naturally!

First on the agenda, of course, was to find a little pink heaven for some retail therapy. I found a treasure trove of delights – the cutest little pink dress shop with every shade of pink imaginable, and a stationery store bursting with pink-hued notebooks, pens, and even pink ribbon that matched my new tutu perfectly! (Speaking of, I’ll definitely share photos on Instagram later, it’s too beautiful not to.)

But the real star of the show was, drumroll please… the High Wycombe Swan Theatre! It’s a beautiful, historic theatre that exuded elegance and grandeur, with sweeping staircases and a glittering chandelier. This is where I truly felt like I’d stepped into the world of a classic ballet, like a magical world just waiting to unfold. I found a little cafe outside the theatre that even served tea in bone china cups with miniature pink sugar spoons – you see, pink really does have a way of making everything a bit more magical, wouldn’t you agree?

Of course, no trip to a new town would be complete without a spot of ballet inspiration. I discovered a ballet studio with a delightful group of students. Oh, they were so lovely, with such infectious enthusiasm for ballet! We all laughed and talked about our favourite ballets, and their eyes lit up when I shared my little "Pink Tutu Manifesto" – to get everyone, everyone in a pink tutu, and to share the joy of dance with the whole wide world. I might have given them a little ballet demonstration too, because who can resist twirling in a brand new tutu? And guess what, my lovelies? One of the students even started a Pink Tutu challenge! Imagine, maybe she is the one to inspire a global Pink Tutu Revolution!

My adventures didn't stop at the ballet studio! After a lovely cup of tea (of course, pink!), I went for a lovely walk in the Chiltern Hills. The air was crisp and fresh, and the colours of autumn were in full swing – blazing reds, warm oranges, and soft yellows – such beautiful contrasts with my pink beret. I even spotted a beautiful stag roaming peacefully through the woods. Such a majestic creature, full of grace and dignity. He looked like he could easily perform a perfect jeté.

The walk cleared my mind and put me in the mood for a hearty dinner at a local pub – the smell of roast chicken and hearty vegetables filled the air as I entered the cozy atmosphere. The locals were warm and welcoming, sharing stories and jokes with me about the history of their charming little town. And they even clapped politely when I twirled for them after dinner (naturally I couldn't help but share a little bit of the pink tutu magic!).

High Wycombe truly charmed my socks off. The friendly people, the enchanting landscapes, the quaint shops – it was a perfect recipe for a blissful ballet getaway. And, as always, the best part of every adventure is the memories made, and the little pink sprinkles I managed to sprinkle along the way!

Until next time, my dears. Don’t forget, a pink tutu is always the answer!

Emma xoxo
