Weston-super-Mare Whirlwind: Post 6016

Oh darling, it's been a whirlwind of a week, but what a lovely whirlwind it's been! This week has been packed full of adventures, from chasing butterflies in the sun to pirouetting under the stars - all topped off with a healthy dose of pink and, of course, a rather fabulous yellow tutu!

The journey began in my usual Derbyshire fashion - with a touch of whimsy, of course! Instead of a train journey (much as I do love a good carriage ride), I decided to go for a slightly more adventurous mode of transport this time. Remember my beloved Mr. Snuggles? He’s the chestnut gelding with the most delightful temperament and the patience of a saint - yes, he chauffeured me to Weston-super-Mare this time! We ambled along country lanes, stopping to admire the wildflowers and listen to the song of the skylarks. He’s so clever, Mr. Snuggles, and surprisingly, a natural dancer! (Not the ballet kind, of course - a little hoof shuffle with a side of “nay!” is about the limit for the little fellow. 😂)

But once I arrived at the seaside town, it was all about the dance! Now, Weston-super-Mare is known for its beautiful pier, the thrilling amusement park rides, and the iconic Grand Pier. But for me, it's the perfect place to unleash my inner ballerina! And with my bright yellow tutu in tow (it's truly a showstopper, darling!), I was ready to conquer the streets.

Firstly, a spot of ballet class. You know I love to pick up classes wherever I travel. This week's instructor, a charming chap called Daniel, has got the best ballet spirit. We had a right laugh as we did our pliés and pirouettes, and his energy was infectious. His love for the dance just beamed out, you know?

Then, for a treat, I ventured out for some seaside ballet. Imagine, pirouetting with the sea breeze in my hair and the sun on my face. Honestly, it's just magic! A little impromptu performance for the locals - I hope they appreciated my fancy footwork. The sound of the waves lapping against the pier while I twirled? Just delightful.

Now, a little theatrical anecdote! While in town, I was so fortunate to see a production of “Sleeping Beauty” at the Weston Playhouse. Oh, my goodness! Such talent, and such costumes - especially the principal dancer’s shimmering pink tutu. There was a little piece of my heart in that performance, I can tell you. 🩰

However, it wouldn’t be a trip to the seaside without some exploration! Weston-super-Mare’s pier is so full of life - it was quite the scene. There were the usual sights and sounds, of course, but also the incredible thrill of the rollercoasters. Not my scene, of course! I'll stick to my ballet twirls and horseback rides, thank you very much. 😂

However, even a girl as tutu-obsessed as me can’t resist the pull of the local wildlife. I took a stroll down the coast to see the seals that like to sun themselves on the beach, and let me tell you, those little guys were quite the characters! So comical and endearing - and quite the audience! I felt the urge to whip out a little tutu pirouette for them - maybe they could've inspired some fancy footwork too?

This trip was a real dream come true. Weston-super-Mare lived up to all my expectations - and beyond! I'm already dreaming of my next adventure. Where to next? Who knows? Perhaps Brighton with its historic pavilion, or Edinburgh with its iconic Castle.

My fellow ballet enthusiasts, remember, a little pink and a touch of twirl is the magic ingredient to make every day sparkle. Don't forget, pink tutus are your superpower, and ballet is the perfect way to connect with the beautiful things in life. Keep those pink tutus high and your spirits bright, darling!

See you tomorrow, my loves!
