Small Heath, My Love Affair with a Yellow Leotard 💖🩰

Hello, darlings! Emma here, your resident pink tutu enthusiast, and it’s time for another delightful post from your favourite ballerina blog! Today, I'm bringing you Post #6124 from the sunny (and I do mean sunny) streets of Small Heath! Can you believe we’re already in April? Time flies when you're twirling through life, eh?

Now, this trip has been a whirlwind from start to finish. Firstly, the train journey – pure joy! You know I adore the gentle rumble of the tracks, the calming rhythm of the countryside whizzing by, and the anticipation bubbling in my chest as I head towards a new adventure. This time, I even saw a family of deer by the tracks – pure magic! I've always been a sucker for nature's beauty, and the way the deer just gazed at me for a moment was truly breathtaking.

Speaking of breathtaking, the highlight of this trip has definitely been the ballet class I took at the lovely “Birmingham Dance Academy” here in Small Heath. Now, I know some of you might think that a ballet class would be too "serious" for this blog, but let me tell you, this one was anything but!

From the moment I walked in, I was greeted by the most beautiful pink-and-white studio (a girl after my own heart!) and a truly delightful group of fellow dancers. They welcomed me with open arms and radiant smiles – I felt like I was amongst a family!

But it wasn't just the atmosphere that made this class special, darling. The teacher, a wonderfully vibrant woman named Ms. Jasmine, had this magical way of making even the most basic movements feel exhilarating. I felt every single muscle in my body as I leapt through the air (my little leaps, of course - gotta protect this ballerina!), and when I finished, my whole body hummed with that delicious exhaustion that comes from truly dancing your heart out.

But, it was my leotard that was the absolute star of the show! Now, don’t get me wrong, I love a good pink leotard – it’s practically my signature. But today, I felt the need for a bit of sunshine in my wardrobe. So, I donned my new sunshine yellow leotard, paired with a flowing black tulle skirt (I love to mix things up a little, you know?) and my trusty pink ballet shoes, of course! I honestly believe I shone brighter than the midday sun, my dear readers!

Afterwards, we all gathered in the studio’s adorable tea room for some scrumptious treats and an afternoon of sincere girly chat. We were all a delightful bunch, from sassy 15-year-olds with bright pink buns to lovely ladies in their 60s with silver ballet slippers (how stunning are they?). The passion for dance was palpable – it truly transcends age and experience, wouldn't you agree?

Speaking of passion, I had a wonderful chat with a lady named Ms. Jenkins who told me the most captivating story about her younger days at the Royal Ballet. It turns out she was once a corps de ballet member! She even told me the story of a time she got a little too carried away during the Nutcracker and actually ended up in the audience during the snowflake sequence (whoops!)

The tales she shared with me are going straight into my "Ballet Blog Archives" – pure gold! I'm planning to do a separate post with more about this inspiring woman – stay tuned!

Oh, and my fellow travel buddies will be happy to hear that Small Heath also has an adorable boutique called “The Pink Flamingo.” It’s crammed with the most gorgeous, quirky accessories, and of course, I had to get myself a new pink tutu! It’s just the perfect blend of bright, airy pink, with delicate lace detailing and the cutest little feather trim - think Barbie goes to a Parisian ballet!

Let me know if you ever happen to be in Small Heath – we could grab tea and a ballet chat!

Until next time, my dearest readers, keep on twirling, keep on believing in the magic of pink tutus and keep spreading the joy of ballet!

Yours eternally,

Emma 💖🩰 www.pink-tutu.com
