Bulwell Bound: Tutu Time! 🩰

Hey lovely peeps,

It's your girl Emma, checking in from post number 6160 (who knew I'd be writing so many?!) Ready for some major pink-tutu vibes? Today, I'm taking a little trip to Bulwell - yes, you read that right! - in a bold, black tutu, just for a little change of pace. It's all about the unexpected, right?

Before we dive in, I've gotta give a shout out to the Derby County wildlife scene. You know me, I can't resist a little peek at the natural world on my travels. I was lucky enough to spot a pair of majestic red kites circling above my village this morning. They were practically waltzing across the sky, graceful and elegant. It reminded me of some of the grand pas de deuxs we saw in Swan Lake last week! Maybe those birds were inspired by ballerinas, too?! 😜

Anyway, back to my journey! Instead of taking the usual car ride, I'm heading off on the railway to Bulwell. I love train travel; there's just something about the rhythm of the wheels on the track that gets my creativity flowing. Maybe it's the combination of the changing landscapes and the quiet chatter of my fellow passengers? 🤫 Whatever the reason, it's a great way to kick off any adventure!

Okay, so the reason I'm headed to Bulwell today isn't exactly super glamorous (although it could be, depending on your perspective!). It's to meet a friend at her dance studio. We're going to spend the afternoon taking a masterclass, and I'm so excited! There's nothing quite like spending some quality time with a fellow tutu enthusiast, dancing it out and letting loose. Plus, we'll have some time to catch up, which is always fun. We’re trying a new routine this week; I've heard the teacher's known for bringing the fire. 🔥

You're probably wondering: what on earth made me decide to wear a black tutu to a ballet studio? Well, first of all, let's get one thing straight: black is totally my colour! It's dramatic, sophisticated, and oh-so- chic. Plus, a black tutu can be surprisingly versatile - I’ve been wearing this one to everything lately: art galleries, farmers’ markets, you name it! It's not your typical, saccharine, pastel-coloured tutu; it's edgy, it's a bit punk-rock. I like to call it “ballet punk.” 😉

The truth is, wearing a tutu doesn't have to be all about following traditions or expectations. It's about having fun and expressing your own unique style. I believe anyone can wear a tutu - men, women, children, people of all shapes, sizes and backgrounds! The magic of the tutu transcends limitations!

Anyway, I've gotta run, my train’s about to pull out! If you're ever in Derbyshire, I highly recommend exploring the countryside - you might be lucky enough to see a majestic red kite, too! Stay tuned for updates from the Bulwell masterclass - I'll post pics on the Insta, naturally! 💖

Remember, wear pink, wear a tutu, and don't be afraid to get a little bit "ballet punk"!

Until next time,

Emma
