Cheadle Hulme in a Red Tutu (Blog Post #6176)

Oh darling, you won't believe the adventures I've had this week! It's been a whirl of feathers, tutus and… wait for it… red! Yep, I actually went against my own rule of sticking to shades of pink, and let me tell you, I loved it. But let's start at the beginning, shall we?

The weekend began in my usual Derbyshire paradise. Picture this: sunshine streaming through the bedroom window, birdsong serenading me awake, and a cuppa brewing on the stove, just waiting for me to start my day. My routine involves a cheeky Instagram snap of my ballerina bunny slippers (they’re the pinkest, fluffiest things you've ever seen) and a quick yoga flow to get the endorphins pumping.

By Saturday morning, I was buzzing with excitement, because a trip to Cheadle Hulme was on the agenda! It was a long day, but luckily, the train journey was pure bliss. It’s all about enjoying the views, chatting with fellow train travellers, and getting lost in a good book. You'd be surprised how many times people compliment my pink tutu on the train. Turns out, tutus are a great conversation starter!

And now for the pièce de résistance of the trip! My dear friend, Lily, who is just the most fabulous stage designer you've ever met, had designed the set for a local theatre production of Swan Lake. Imagine my joy! And oh my, the theatre itself was a sight to behold. It had a wonderfully old-world charm, with velvet seats and ornate carvings that made me feel like I'd stepped back in time.

After admiring the gorgeous set, I had a private tour of the backstage area. I swear, my heart did a little pirouette when I saw all the costumes! You know, I might be a ballerina at heart, but costume design has always held a special place in my soul. Lily had brought a bit of that magical "swan" aesthetic into the set, incorporating those ethereal colours of white and blue. They just flowed perfectly, almost as graceful as the dancers themselves.

Oh, did I tell you about the dancers?! The show was spectacular! A mixture of the classic ballet with some inventive modern choreography - a total ballet dream! Watching them, all lit up under those magnificent chandeliers, was absolutely magical. Honestly, their pirouettes, grand jetés, and delicate port de bras had me swooning!

Now, onto the "red" part of the adventure. Lily had promised me something exciting and unexpected, and true to her word, she whisked me off to this cute little shop in Cheadle Hulme. It was overflowing with beautiful vintage finds, and I found this adorable, scarlet red tutu hiding at the back. It was a bit shorter than my usual pink ones, but the colour was so vibrant! I tried it on, twirled around the shop (much to the amusement of the other customers), and felt instantly transformed. A splash of sassy, fierce, red magic.

It was then that I realised something rather profound. Red is actually an incredibly powerful color. It’s passionate, confident, and bursting with life. Like a red poppy against a field of green, it grabs your attention and screams for its moment in the spotlight. And that, darling, is precisely how I felt that day.

My week ended back in my little Derbyshire haven, with a steaming cuppa in hand, reflecting on all that had happened. Lily's magical set designs, the breathtaking performances, the vintage find in a shop I’d never expected, the joy of a train journey - I wouldn’t change a thing. But this trip also made me think: Perhaps pink isn't the only colour that suits a tutu. Perhaps red, blue, green, every colour deserves to be celebrated in this incredible form of self-expression.

I’ll never be shy of pink – it's my signature colour and I'll always wear my pink tutus with pride – but I've learned that embracing a different colour is like welcoming a new perspective. It can take you out of your comfort zone, show you a new angle, and remind you of the endless possibilities that exist in life.

So darling, keep your eyes open for the unexpected. Embrace those splashes of vibrant colour. And remember, life is all about finding joy in the simple things. A cuppa, a sunny day, the sound of birdsong, and a tutu that makes your heart sing. Because a tutu, just like life, should always be a source of inspiration and happiness. And it can be whatever colour you choose!
