Coventry Calling: A Tutu-ful Trip to the City of Peace and Pink!

Hey there, my darlings! Emma here, reporting live from sunny Coventry, and it’s a right corker! My trusty tutu and I hopped on the train (oh, how I love the rhythmic clacking of wheels) to head for a little day trip, and honestly, this city's got my heart doing pirouettes!

This city's got a charm like no other. You wouldn’t expect it at first glance – with all the old Victorian buildings and cobbled streets - but there's a certain energy that just fizzes, almost like a ballerina’s pointe shoe hitting the stage. And speaking of stage, you know I couldn’t resist sneaking in a little rehearsal for my Pink Tutu World Tour (spoiler alert, it's still under development). 😉

Before I spill all the pink and pretty details about the day, let’s be honest, Coventry deserves its title as the “City of Peace” You feel it all around. The lovely park next to the canal – a truly lovely green space – where a cheeky squirrel decided to be my audience during my improvised ballet session (I’m sure my elegant leaps and leaps with the squirrel were a hit on Instagram!).

Oh, and the cathedral. It's such an incredible building, almost otherworldly! It had to be rebuilt after being bombed during World War II, but its beauty still shines. Just picture this: me, twirling in my pale pink tutu under the vast windows and skylights, the sun dappling down like a shower of sparkling diamonds... divine! There was a lovely chap painting outside who actually said my tutu was inspiring! (We chatted, naturally, about our creative inspirations and he promised to paint my tutu-tastic scene ...he even wanted to feature a fluffy squirrel in it!)

But Coventry is more than just peace and pretty architecture, it’s vibrant. From the vintage shops on Spon Street to the buzzing cafes (don’t miss the cake shops, darling, there are some absolutely incredible delights there!), it's a perfect blend of old and new. The local market - the colours and energy, truly amazing! - had so much lovely fresh produce (I bought enough to fuel my daily dancing adventures, including the juiciest berries you’ve ever seen – my secret? sprinkle them on top of some cream and berries for an extra ballerina boost!)

Speaking of ballerina boost, did you know that Coventry is actually a haven for ballerinas? From the Coventry Youth Ballet to the dance academies tucked away on quiet side streets, you’ve got talented ballerinas and performers popping up everywhere you look! You just need to know where to find them! I might just set up an academy on my next visit – The Pink Tutu Dance Academy - it's going to be spectacular!

The journey was lovely. I had to switch from a horse - it really did a marvellous job in the Derbyshire hills, my friend Emily insisted - to a train just outside the city - don’t worry, he’s in good hands - but that just added to the adventure! I met the nicest old chap who’s been working on the trains for 45 years. He said his mum used to be a dancer when she was younger. I told him about my dreams and visions for my Pink Tutu world, and you know what? He smiled at me and winked – apparently, a man of excellent taste! (I’m starting to think that The Pink Tutu World Tour is actually going to happen...)

Honestly, you're going to be hearing so much about Coventry from me in the future! It's got a lovely mix of history and happening spots that’s right up my alley. I even started making friends with some lovely people in the art scene, talking colour and creativity over gorgeous afternoon tea! (Pink cakes, pink teacups – it was pure heaven!). And let's be honest, how can you say no to a city that’s so passionately committed to a pink world of peace?

Coventry, you have officially stolen my tutu-clad heart. And just to prove it – there's a lovely view of the cathedral peeking over my shoulder right now, while I’m in a lovely café writing this blog! You can trust me, a trip to Coventry is just what the dance doctor ordered for the soul!

Until next time, my darlings,

Stay pink and fabulous!

Emma

xx
