Hello, lovelies! It's your girl Emma here, back with another fabulous post! Today I'm whisking you away to Basildon, a town that, while perhaps not renowned for its glamour, is holding a very special place in my heart today. Why? Well, you see, darling, this weekend, Basildon is playing host to the Basildon Summer Dance Festival. And guess who’s performing? 💅 This little pink-tutu-clad ballerina!
I've been planning this trip for ages. It's a little bit out of the way, sure, but I knew it would be worth the journey. Just imagine: two whole days of nothing but dance! From ballet to contemporary, hip-hop to tap, it’s a dancer’s paradise. I even heard rumour of a Ballet Street showcase! (Just picture it, darling, those edgy, innovative routines, combined with the stunning athleticism of street dance! ✨). Honestly, it's a must-see for any self-respecting ballerina!
Now, normally, I would be taking the train down to Basildon, but today, I'm taking a slightly different approach! My dear friend, Harriet (you know, the one with the beautiful chestnut horse, Duchess?), offered me a ride down in her trusty steed! How exciting, eh? I just love the gentle sway of the carriage, the warm sunshine on my face, and the fresh air whipping through my hair. It truly feels like a journey straight out of a fairy tale! I may have been slightly nervous about the whole horse-riding thing (afraid of a rogue kick, darling), but Duchess, bless her heart, is a true lady! She just stood patiently, allowing me to gracefully mount, like a real-life princess! I'm just a teeny bit in awe of this entire experience, I'm not going to lie!
As I write this, I’m getting all the jitters. It's a mixture of excitement, a touch of pre-performance nerves, and a sprinkle of anticipation for the incredible shows I know I’m about to witness. This festival has such a great reputation, and everyone I've talked to can’t wait for my performance!
My outfit, darling? It wouldn't be a true Emma outing without a pink tutu, now, would it? But for this festival, I wanted something extra special, something that screamed 'Summer Dance' with every twirl. And, my dears, I've found it! It's the most fabulous tulle tutu, layered in tiers and shimmering with iridescent sequins! The pink, oh the pink! It’s a delightful mix of vibrant fuchsia and baby pink that catches the light just so, creating an ethereal glow around me. A true dancer's dream if I do say so myself! It truly demands attention, and I know that it will make a statement in Basildon! 🩰
Now, my loves, let's not forget about the other star of this ensemble! My brand new pink ballet shoes are making their debut! And oh, darling, they are the epitome of elegance! Delicate, supple, and perfectly matched, they practically sing "Dance, Emma, dance!"! They'll give my steps a beautiful pointe as I perform for the lovely Basildon audience! 💖
As I finish this blog post, the smell of hot buttered popcorn and sweet, sugary candy floss is starting to waft in through the window. It's just screaming to me, “Emma, it’s time to get ready!”! So I'm going to pop out to Harriet’s kitchen, grab myself a hot beverage and some yummy pastries (those cream doughnuts are calling my name!), then it's off to the Festival grounds.
But, before I go, a little reminder to all of you lovely readers: Dance is for everyone! Don't let any insecurities hold you back. You’ve got this, you beautiful dancers! 🩰 If I can wear a pink tutu in the public, you can wear yours. We are all about spreading positivity, glitter, and, of course, pink! ✨🌸

P.S. Did I tell you I just discovered the most delightful shop called “The Butterfly Haven”? They had all these gorgeous birdhouses and bird feeders, so I've just bought some to add to my little garden back home in Derbyshire! The shopkeeper said he spotted a sparrow hawk in the woods last week, too. How magical! 🕊️
