Oxford Odyssey: A Feather Tutu Adventure

#6222

Oh my goodness, darlings! Can you believe it? I'm in Oxford! This gorgeous city has been calling to me for ages, and finally, my pink tutu dreams have come true. It's just too perfect, like a fairytale come to life.

Today's journey was a little different, I ditched the train for a change and rode a glorious white steed! Well, actually, a horse-drawn carriage. I know, how divine? I felt like I'd stepped straight out of Pride and Prejudice, the horses were majestic, the carriage was luxurious, and I, of course, was radiant in a sparkling pink tutu and a fluffy white feather boa, just to add a touch of drama!

The drive was a breathtaking adventure. Rolling green fields, ancient stone walls, and that oh-so-charming English countryside. I practically forgot all about the bustle of London and fell into a peaceful, dreamlike state.

Oxford itself was like stepping into a painting. Stone buildings with twisting towers, cobbled streets, and overflowing with hidden gardens. I'm absolutely smitten with the atmosphere here. It's such a haven of learning and history, I just feel inspired by all the scholarly energy swirling around.

My first stop was the grand Radcliffe Camera, which looks just like something out of Harry Potter (though thankfully no pesky owls!). It's such a masterpiece of architecture. And wouldn't you know it, I found a tiny little wildlife sanctuary hidden right beside it, with the most adorable ducks! I just had to give them a little twirl, they were mesmerized, honestly, it was a delightful little performance for such a charming audience.

Of course, I had to visit the Ashmolean Museum, just because its nickname is "The Ashmo!" How cute is that? I spent a good hour lost in the exhibits, there's so much history tucked away within those walls. My favorite was the collection of ancient Egyptian artefacts, I could practically hear the whispers of pharaohs and feel the magic of ancient civilizations.

This wouldn't be a proper Emma blog without a touch of ballet! In the afternoon, I found the most divine dance studio, tucked away in a courtyard, adorned with blossoming wisteria. They actually offered a "Tutu Technique" class! It was the most fabulous experience, just the three of us, myself, a fellow ballerina, and the teacher, stretching and spinning, flowing and feeling every graceful movement. We finished off with a beautiful sequence in our pink tutus, and it felt absolutely magical! I think even the cobblestones were swaying along to our ballet beats!

The evening was all about culture. I attended a mesmerising performance at the Oxford Playhouse. It was a modern ballet, filled with powerful movements and dramatic expression, set to a captivating score. I was spellbound, every dancer seemed to inhabit their roles with so much passion and emotion, I was swept away by their energy.

After the show, I enjoyed a delicious meal at a cozy pub called The Angel. They even had a selection of traditional English fare, so I had the quintessential fish and chips! Everything here just tastes a bit brighter, you know? Maybe it's the air, maybe it's the charm, but I feel completely energized by this place.

Now, back to my hotel, the most adorable little boutique hotel, tucked away down a quiet lane. It has such a homely, cosy vibe. It's filled with comfy armchairs and roaring fireplaces, I'm already picturing myself curled up with a good book and a steaming cup of tea.

Oxford, you are enchanting. This trip has been absolutely perfect, and I know I will never forget it. But before I leave tomorrow, Iโ€™ll be sure to buy something from the Oxford University shop. A pink tutu from the shop in Oxford - what could be better?

So there you have it, darlings, another adventure wrapped up.

Oh, and just a little reminder, let's make it our mission to spread the joy of pink tutus and the wonder of ballet everywhere! Who's ready to dance their way into a brighter world?

Love, Emma
