Burton Upon Trent: Tutu-ing About! (Post #6278)

Hello lovelies! It's Emma here, back from a whirlwind adventure that took me all the way to Burton upon Trent, the heart of the English brewing country. And yes, you guessed it – my trusty pink tutu was in tow, naturally!

I love discovering new places, and the charm of this quaint town was irresistible. As a Derbyshire girl born and bred, I know my fair share of countryside towns, but Burton had a unique vibe. Imagine charming brick buildings, cobbled streets, and an air of history. Oh, and don’t forget the tantalising scent of hops wafting through the air – it was a real treat for the senses!

This trip was a perfect mix of exploring, ballet, and of course, my favourite – tutu-ing! My adventures started with a journey on the train. I can't get enough of the scenic views and the feeling of freedom on the railway. There's something so enchanting about watching the world whizz by as you glide along. It’s truly a magical experience that allows me to clear my head and immerse myself in my surroundings.

Arriving in Burton, I felt a buzz in the air. The locals were incredibly welcoming, greeting me with friendly smiles and chats. This town felt truly alive. After settling into my delightful little cottage on the outskirts of the town, I decided to unleash my inner explorer. It was time to embrace the history and charm of Burton.

My first stop was the National Brewery Centre, a museum that celebrates the history of brewing in Britain. As I learned about the craft and techniques of brewing, I was particularly drawn to the story of the famous Bass Brewery, a landmark in the history of Burton upon Trent. They say the water there has an exceptionally soft quality perfect for brewing. Of course, it was a chance for a little cheeky beer tasting too! It's not often you get to combine your love for a good ale with history and culture! (Just a tiny one though - gotta keep that tutu twirling!)

The day wasn't complete without a stroll through Burton's vibrant market. Local produce, crafts, and an eclectic mix of treasures – I was like a kid in a candy store! As I delved into the colourful stalls, my inner ballet enthusiast spotted some vibrant fabrics. They'd look simply divine stitched onto my latest tutu design, wouldn't they? Perhaps with some embellishments in vibrant pink and ruby red. Oh, the possibilities!

In the evening, I ventured into the town's bustling theatre. A stunning Victorian architecture housed the most charming community theatre. I can’t resist the chance to watch local ballet productions - there is a true artistry and passion in seeing emerging talents on the stage. And, let's be honest, I simply adore live performance – it gets the heart pumping and sparks the creativity! The performance that night featured the most delightful group of young dancers from the Burton School of Dance. They really made me remember my own early days, when my biggest dream was to twirl gracefully under the stage lights. The whole experience reminded me just how magical ballet can be.

After such an invigorating day, there’s no better way to wind down than a lovely evening stroll. I walked along the Trent, watching the sunset paint the sky with a canvas of fiery colours. I simply couldn’t help but put on a little impromptu performance. The riverside path became my makeshift stage. With each pirouette and grand jeté, I felt utterly free and joyful!

I must admit, I’ve also found myself strangely drawn to the world of horses. Perhaps it’s the grace and strength, or maybe it’s their intelligence. Who knows! Maybe this love of horses comes from that shared love of beauty and artistry, which we ballet dancers are also dedicated to! I must admit, the dream of being a graceful, fearless horsewoman with a fluffy pink tutu, wouldn't be half bad. The perfect fairytale combination of girly dreams, if you ask me!

And that's a wrap on my delightful Burton adventure! My time here was a perfect balance of exploring, indulging in all things pink and tutu-tastic, and cherishing the magic of dance. It reminds me how a single town can spark endless joy and inspire us all to find our inner sparkle, just like a dazzling tutu.

Now, I must rush off, my next adventure is already beckoning. Perhaps a leisurely afternoon in a quaint village surrounded by picturesque fields – it's definitely a ballerina's paradise. Or, a visit to the beautiful city of Bath where I can twirl my tutu amidst historic streets. Whatever awaits, you can bet it’ll be brimming with the feminine charm of a tutu, and the warmth of pink.

Keep your toes pointed and your tutus twirling, my lovely dancers. Don’t forget to live each day to the fullest, just like you are dancing in your favourite tutu under the spotlight!

Until next time, xo Emma
