Taunton: Tutu Tales and Train Trails!

Hello my darling tutu-loving darlings! Emma here, your favourite pink-tutu-clad ballerina, bringing you a dose of glittery goodness straight from the heart of Somerset. This time, my travels took me to the charming town of Taunton, and let me tell you, it was a proper fairy tale!

I arrived by train, of course! It’s always such a glamorous affair – picture me, all rosy-cheeked and raring to go, twirling my way through the carriage with my trusty travel companion, my beloved purple tutu, gracefully tucked in its garment bag. The gentle sway of the train is just like a pirouette, and the landscapes whizzing past are like a series of magical ballets – imagine fields of golden wheat as a corps de ballet, the sheep frolicking in the meadows like playful ballerinas, and the winding river like a sinuous ribbon flowing across the stage. It truly is an enchanting journey!

Taunton itself felt like stepping into a storybook. The cobbled streets, the historic buildings, the scent of fresh-baked bread… it all felt so enchanting! As I strolled through the town centre, my trusty tutu tucked under my arm, I couldn't help but feel a sense of whimsy. This was a town that beckoned for a twirl, and twirl I did! Picture this: Emma in her purple tutu, swirling and swaying in the dappled sunlight filtering through the leaves of a grand oak tree in the town square. It was a sight to behold, even I'll admit!

But no trip to Taunton would be complete without a visit to the Taunton Brewhouse Theatre. It’s an iconic venue, housed in a beautifully converted former brewery! I'm a bit of a theatre buff, so naturally I was keen to catch a performance, and I wasn’t disappointed! It was a breathtaking ballet adaptation of Shakespeare's "Romeo and Juliet", full of dramatic leaps, passionate twirls, and achingly beautiful duets. I was mesmerized.

Afterwards, I ventured out for dinner at the "Tivoli Theatre" in the centre of Taunton. Their menu was bursting with delightful, local, fresh flavours, and the ambience was truly buzzing! I treated myself to their signature pink-tutu cocktail - it was like liquid fairy dust, sparkling with flavour!

Speaking of enchanting creatures, one of my favourite parts of my trip was discovering a little gem tucked away just outside of Taunton – The Somerset Wildlife Trust. A haven for animals and nature lovers alike, it boasted charming walking trails through woodland and meadow. I found myself immersed in a scene straight out of a ballet. Squirrels scurried up ancient oaks like little furry dancers, butterflies pirouetted on delicate flower heads, and the birdsong was like a captivating melody. This was pure inspiration for a ballerina like me!

My final day in Taunton was dedicated to something truly special. The Taunton School, nestled amidst rolling hills, has a flourishing dance academy, and I just had to drop by. They welcomed me with open arms, inviting me to watch their budding ballerinas rehearse. The energy in the room was electric. These young dancers were passionate and vibrant, and it filled my heart with joy.

My time in Taunton was like a captivating dance piece. It was a delightful mix of history, culture, wildlife, and that irreplaceable sprinkle of magic. I bid farewell to the enchanting town, the warm sunlight painting my journey with a glow of pink, feeling grateful for the beauty that surrounds us, even in the most unexpected corners of our world.

And remember, my sweet ballerinas, never forget to twirl with passion, to chase your dreams with grace, and to embrace the enchantment of every day. Stay pink, stay fabulous, and I'll be back with another tutu adventure soon!

Until next time,

Emma xo
