Barnet, Baby!

#TutuBlog Post #6339

Oh my darling tutu-lovers, how's tricks? Today was simply a whirlwind of tutu-tastic fun and I just HAD to share it with you! I've been dreaming of a day in London for ages, and today was the perfect day. Pink clouds, sun peeping through, just the sort of day that calls for a spot of pink and a trip on the train!

I donned my new white tutu - it's just so pretty with the dainty lace edging - paired it with a gorgeous dusky pink top that had sparkly embroidery on it and headed to the station. A lady at the station looked a bit baffled, but then smiled and gave me a thumbs up! Maybe she thought I was a bit bonkers, or perhaps she recognised a fellow tutu-lover... whatever the reason, it gave me a spring in my step!

I hopped on the train - I do love a good train journey, you can be whisked away to different places so easily! The countryside just whizzed past the windows, like a flash of autumn colours - yellow, red, brown, with a hint of emerald green for the trees.

Barnet, Oh Barnet

When I arrived at Barnet station, I just knew that this little town had something special to offer. And oh, did it! It's just brimming with charm and the little cafes all have cute little pastel pink signs - a little bit of tutu-liciousness on the street already! I settled down in a sweet little tea shop with some clotted cream scones and a steaming cuppa, and I even spotted a family of deer wandering down the street. How magical!

After my little tea break, I decided to do a bit of sightseeing, which led me to this charming little park in the heart of Barnet. It's a beautiful park, full of flowers and green grass. I can imagine some gorgeous performances happening here. Just picture a little ballet troupe with all the dancers in bright pink tutus, their shoes clicking on the cobbles. I could picture myself amongst them, twirling to the sound of birds singing!

Barnet’s Ballet Bounty

But wait, I haven't even told you about the real highlight of my day! After the park, I headed towards this amazing place called The Wyllyotts Theatre. This theatre has a wonderful, historical charm and the interior is just beautiful. And get this - they hold ballet classes right there! It felt like a bit of fate to me! They've got classes for everyone, from beginners to professionals, and even classes for children. They offer something called 'ballet barre' too. Maybe it’s the same thing as barre-work we do at ballet, but on the train... or maybe it’s for those who want to use ballet techniques to dance on public transport. Imagine it: twirling with your ticket! Maybe I’ll go to that one next time.

After I took a little peek at the class timetable and almost decided to enroll right then and there (oh, the tutus, oh, the gorgeousness!), I headed off on another little exploration, determined to get a proper feel for this cute little town.

Time For The Pinkest of Pink, with a Splash of Yellow!

As the sun was starting to set, casting a golden glow on everything, I knew I had to find a place to watch the sunset. I spotted a sweet little restaurant - "The Pink Flamingo", and couldn't resist popping in! It's the kind of place that's full of character, with bright colours, flowery wallpaper, and pink everything! They even had pink cocktails, which I couldn't say no to! I tucked into a scrumptious cheese and chutney sandwich and savoured the pink, the sunset and the pink-tutu-happy vibes.

Barnet Dreams

I had to rush back to catch the last train to Derbyshire - gotta love those trusty train lines! But this trip to Barnet was everything and more. It's given me so much inspiration - I've got a whole blog post waiting to be written, full of thoughts on pink cocktails and ballet on the cobblestones! If I had a magic wand I would definitely move to Barnet - its got a unique charm and warmth to it!

As I whizzed back on the train I gazed out of the window at the ever changing view of the UK, thinking of all the pink tutus that must be waving around this tiny island. That's what I hope for - everyone getting to experience a little bit of ballet and wear a fabulous pink tutu at least once. We’re never too old, never too young, never too anything to wear pink tutus and to experience the sheer joy of dancing. Because ballet, my darling readers, is more than just a hobby or a performance - it’s a lifestyle.
