Denton Calling! #6384

Denton, 25th December, 2013

Hello lovelies!

Happy Boxing Day! Can you believe it’s Christmas already? Time flies when you’re having fun! I just got back from a lovely Christmas lunch with my family in Derbyshire – we even had a cheeky mince pie (or two) afterwards, because, well, you only get Christmas once a year!

But anyway, let’s get back to the real reason you’re here - Tutus!

As many of you know, I’m absolutely in love with Denton. It's a beautiful town, full of history and charm, with a real sense of community. And this Christmas, it really shone. There were decorations and Christmas lights everywhere, creating the most magical atmosphere! I even caught a glimpse of Father Christmas himself as he made his rounds!

Oh, and did I mention the ballet? Denton has such a vibrant arts scene, and I had to get my fill of all things dance while I was there. First up, I visited the town's gorgeous new ballet studio. It was absolutely stunning, with beautiful natural light pouring in through the windows. The instructor was a dream – a real ballet aficionado who inspired me to give my all. You just have to try this studio, dears.

Later on, I went to see a performance by the Denton Dance Company at the local theatre. They were simply breathtaking! It was a production that mixed the grace of classical ballet with the raw power of street dance. It was a perfect blend of energy and artistry, and left me absolutely mesmerised. It was one of those performances that makes you want to get on your feet and twirl yourself right there!

I can’t say enough good things about the theatre in Denton. A beautifully ornate, historic place with a truly wonderful, cosy feel. They had just the right mix of contemporary plays and classic musicals to keep any discerning ballet and theatre lover happy. Plus, you can always find a perfect spot for a chat and a cuppa before and after the show, which makes for such a wonderful, community feel.

I know you’re thinking it, so I’ll say it: “You can’t be serious Emma, Denton is such a small town…how did you even get there?”. Well, my darling dears, I am always up for an adventure! I got there by the most lovely journey: I hopped on a train at a charming little station tucked away in Derbyshire, a train as crimson as my very own tutu, no less! It took me straight through some gorgeous scenery to this charming, artistic little corner of England. It’s amazing what you can see and experience by venturing just a little bit outside of your comfort zone.

And what is travel without the animal element? After the amazing ballet show, I took a walk around the town, and stumbled across a truly amazing nature reserve. There was this adorable family of red squirrels - just imagine! Imagine - you're enjoying the magic of a wintry landscape, the scent of pine, the soft falling snow on your face, and you see this little fluffy, red squirrel just staring at you! A truly magical encounter, wouldn’t you agree? I may be a ballerina, but even my schedule couldn’t resist such an amazing little woodland wonder.

The whole Denton trip was absolutely amazing! If you ever get the chance to visit this fabulous little town, just take it!

And remember my darling lovelies, this blog is for you: if you’re ever wondering whether to try something new, to travel somewhere exciting, to venture beyond the familiar, take my word for it, do it! Go find something inspiring and amazing. I believe in all of you!

I’ll be back with another post tomorrow! And until then, my loves, twirl on!

Emma
