Spalding: Tutu-ing it up in Lincolnshire! 🩰

Hello lovelies! It's your girl Emma, back from a whirlwind trip to the beautiful county of Lincolnshire, and let me tell you, it was tutu-ly magical! I've been itching to get out of Derbyshire and explore a new place, and what better way than by hopping on a train in my trusty pink tutu and heading off on a ballet-themed adventure?

This trip was a real journey of discovery, from exploring Spalding's charming town centre to being totally wowed by the stunning Lincolnshire Wolds. I've got a whole load of adventures to share with you, so buckle up, darlings, it's going to be a pink tutu-tastic ride!

A Tutu-ful Town

Spalding is a real hidden gem, brimming with history and charm. The moment I stepped off the train, I felt a rush of excitement, I was eager to explore. There’s a stunning, ancient market place that feels like it’s straight out of a Jane Austen novel! I can just picture a dashing gentleman in a top hat arriving by horse-drawn carriage - sigh! Speaking of dashing gentlemen, I think it would be absolutely divine to organise a mass pink tutu ballet flashmob in the market square! Just imagine the sight - wouldn't that be an incredible way to spread the pink tutu love?!

One thing I loved about Spalding was the wildlife. I spotted a group of swans gliding across the River Welland, the perfect picturesque backdrop for a photo in my tutu! It made me wish I had packed my camera – I’m definitely adding a “tutu and wildlife” photoshoot to my bucket list for next time! The local nature reserve was a joy, filled with chirping birds and the sweet scent of wild flowers - definitely a haven of peace.

Tutu-ing around the Theatre

Of course, no trip would be complete without a bit of ballet! And Spalding did not disappoint. There's a charming little theatre, the South Holland Centre, which has a regular schedule of ballet performances, from graceful classics to exciting contemporary pieces. They even have beginner's ballet classes! I was totally inspired.

While I didn't get a chance to catch a show this time around, I’m definitely coming back for a show soon, I even bought tickets for a performance in their beautiful new Dance Studio! I mean, what’s better than seeing a live performance after a morning of ballet class?!

A Train Journey Through History

Now, as you know, I adore a good train journey - especially if I'm sporting my favourite pink tutu! The journey from Derbyshire to Lincolnshire was a dream - rolling fields of golden wheat, sleepy villages, and breathtaking views. I spent the whole time gazing out the window, dreaming up dance routines in my head. It felt like stepping back in time, just as it should on a journey so far away from my busy Derbyshire life.

From Ballerina to Explorer

After spending a couple of days soaking up the atmosphere of Spalding, it was time for some exploration! I decided to hire a bicycle and head to the Lincolnshire Wolds, it was a spectacular cycle through countryside roads and stunning landscape – It's the kind of scene that’s tailor-made for a breathtaking ballet performance in my bright pink tutu. It's definitely worth adding to your must-visit spots, especially for any dance lovers!

Spreading the Pink Tutu Love

Everywhere I went, I made a point of chatting to people and spreading my pink tutu message - “Wear it with confidence, dance with joy, and embrace the magic that is ballet.” A group of children stopped me at the market, wanting to know why I wore a tutu. They were so excited to hear about the wonder of ballet, and I loved their wide-eyed fascination! We even did a little impromptu "twirl-off" - it was utterly charming. Spreading that pink tutu positivity is what it's all about!

The Pink Tutu Afterglow

Well, my darlings, my time in Spalding was all too short, but it's an experience I'll never forget. The warmth of the locals, the charm of the town, the natural beauty, and that incredible theatre – what's not to love?!

I came away feeling inspired and ready to dance. The memory of seeing those swans gliding gracefully through the water is going to stay with me. I’m already planning my next trip back!

Until next time, my dears!

Always keep twirling, Emma
