Kendal Calling: A Black Tutu and a Touch of Magic (Post #6420)

Hello my lovely darlings!

It's Emma here, and as the saying goes, 'A black tutu can go anywhere!' And where am I, you ask? Well, today, my ballet boots are firmly planted in the heart of Cumbria, in the picturesque town of Kendal, where the music is vibrant and the air hums with the anticipation of the weekend's biggest festival. That's right, you guessed it! I'm here for Kendal Calling, and I just had to bring my black tutu for the occasion. 😉

Before I delve into all the fun (and the occasional, well-deserved 'ooh la la' moment) I must tell you about my journey. Imagine this: the gentle sway of a horse-drawn carriage, taking me through rolling Derbyshire countryside towards the station, all whilst wearing a crisp pink dress and a matching bow on my hair. There's nothing more whimsical than a morning like this! It was the perfect start to my trip, leaving the stress and hustle of everyday life behind.

Once aboard the train, the adventure really started. The train was alive with excitement, chatter, and music. I even managed to strike up a conversation with the lovely chap sat opposite me. He's a retired wildlife photographer, you know, with a passion for photographing penguins! How could I not be smitten? (There might have been a few more pink sparkles in my eyes than usual 😉). He even gave me the most beautiful anecdote: Apparently, the penguin’s way of expressing love is through presenting their partner with a little pebble. Isn't that sweet?!

Oh! Before I forget, I managed to nab the most adorable travel pillow from the shop in the station. It’s a little unicorn, you see! The colours, the sparkle…it's perfect. I’ll be taking it with me on all my future adventures. Who says travelling needs to be boring?

Speaking of my travels, I must tell you about Kendal! This quaint town has truly captured my heart. From the charming cobbled streets to the bustling market, I’m feeling all the happy vibes. And did I mention the delicious cheese and cider?! Every corner is a little delight! It makes you wonder if you wouldn't want to simply ditch your daily routine for this slower pace of life. But then again, who would grace the world with my daily pink tutu posts?! A girl's got to make a stand, don't you think?

Now, let’s talk about the music! Festivals are where I really let loose! The energy is electrifying, with the sound of music swirling around you like a ballerina’s twirls. You truly feel like you are part of a giant symphony, and trust me, this black tutu is ready to get its groove on!

Oh, but there's more to this story than music! We all know the best part of any festival is the outfits. Don't get me wrong, the usual vibrant prints, bold colours and festival face paint always leave me with a big, happy grin. But honestly, nothing beats seeing a good tutu on someone else. Now, you know I can never resist an impromptu "Tutu Twirl Challenge." I did spot one very brave lady sporting a sparkly pink tutu at the entrance - the sparkle! It caught the light in such a divine way. Of course, I took the opportunity to suggest she give me a whirl - a dance-off in a crowded space, what could possibly go wrong? 😉

Of course, my visit to Kendal Calling was never just about a tutu, though it certainly helped set the tone! The joy of it all? The atmosphere. People coming together, creating their own individual version of a shared happiness.

This weekend has filled my soul with pure magic, from the warm embrace of the town to the thrill of the music. And my trusty black tutu was with me every step of the way. The moral of the story? Even the most basic ballet tutu, the little black dress of the dance world, can transform into the ultimate symbol of joy, wherever your heart takes you!

Now, my loves, tell me, are you planning any festivals or adventures this summer? What outfit are you going to bring with you? Remember, every outfit is an opportunity to spread some ballet magic! You don’t need to be a ballerina to get into ballet fashion. Let your inner princess free. I know I am!

As always, stay sparkling! 💖 Emma
