Highbury Highlights: Italian Tutus and a Dash of Pink!

Hello my darling tutu-loving lovelies! It’s Emma here, writing to you from the charming Highbury, North London, after a whirlwind of ballet and beautiful surroundings.

As always, a new city means a new adventure in balletland. This time, my journey started in Derbyshire, where I hopped aboard a train, with a new pink tulle tutu and my trusty ballet shoes snuggled in my bag, ready for a ballet extravaganza. I just adore train journeys – there’s something so romantic about watching the landscape fly by. It feels like you’re living out a story, doesn’t it? And the sound of the train tracks – music to my ears!

Highbury itself is absolutely delightful, brimming with history and that quintessentially British charm. My hotel room was right by the local park, which meant a very early morning stroll surrounded by the sweet sounds of birdsong. (Birds have always been a soft spot for me, so the added bird symphony in the morning just added to my already perfect start to the day.)

The first stop was a visit to the famous Sadler’s Wells Theatre – a real landmark for ballet and performance art in London. Stepping into this theatre felt like entering a timeless sanctuary. Just imagine – all the dancers who have graced these very stages! I practically had a happy little twirl before my first show.

But what really captured my attention was the Italian tutu that took centre stage. You see, this beautiful creation was a breathtaking spectacle – all tulle, lace, and intricate embroidery. I was smitten, absolutely smitten. It was the perfect mix of grace and elegance, making it feel almost ethereal! You could say I’m slightly obsessed with tutus, but I'm hoping you've all realised this by now. After the performance, I practically made a beeline for the souvenir shop to find a memento – my own little tribute to the enchanting Italian tutu!

After the show, the excitement continued with a late night ballet class, something that I have to fit in during all of my travels – you know me, always practicing, always dancing. I think we all need to make time to dance in our own lives, even if it's just a quick whirl in the kitchen or an energetic skip in the park. It's the perfect remedy for a stressed-out day and gives you that boost of joy that you simply can't get anywhere else.

Then, it was back to my hotel for some well-deserved pampering. As I dipped into the bubbly bath, the scent of lavender and rosemary wafted around me, the gentle music from my playlist filling the room. After all the running around, it was the perfect end to a wonderful day in Highbury.

But my travels didn't end there! As if by magic, a delightful friend of mine, a seasoned equestrian, arrived in a stunning carriage, ready to take me for a magical ride through the countryside. We clinked champagne glasses as we set off on our journey, with the sound of horse hooves against cobblestones creating the most charming of rhythms. It’s safe to say, there’s truly nothing quite as captivating as an afternoon horseback ride under a beautifully blue English sky!

As my journey drew to a close, I couldn't help but feel a profound sense of peace wash over me. Highbury and its magical atmosphere had enchanted me completely, and I left with memories I know I will cherish for years to come. And who knows? Maybe I’ll even write a little ballet routine inspired by my adventure with a touch of pink Italian inspiration!

Now, I know many of you may be thinking, “Pink tutus? Ballet? Really Emma?!” But please, don’t underestimate the power of these things. My ultimate goal? To get everyone dancing in a pink tutu. To let the world see the magic of ballet, not just in grand theatres, but everywhere, in everyday life. It’s a dream that I hold close to my heart and that drives me forward on this exciting journey!

Stay tuned for more enchanting tales of my tutu-filled travels and join me, won’t you? Remember, a pink tutu can unlock a world of possibilities. It can make you feel empowered, graceful, and truly radiant. So put on your fanciest tutu and get ready to embrace the magic of dance!

Sending you all a big, sparkly, pink-tutu hug!

Emma xx
