Aberdeen Adventures in Pink! - Post 6473
Hello, darlings! Emma here, your friendly neighbourhood tutu enthusiast, ready to whisk you away to the beautiful city of Aberdeen!
I know, I know, whatās a girl from Derbyshire doing in the North East? Well, let me tell you, the train journey up was simply divine. The Scottish countryside is like a living watercolour painting, rolling hills dotted with fluffy sheep and majestic castles peeking out from the landscape. The air was crisp and fresh, and I couldnāt resist a quick selfie with a couple of cheeky sheep on the platform.
Of course, no journey is complete without a pink tutu! Mine for this trip is a beautiful blush pink with layers of soft tulle, perfectly capturing the romantic charm of Scotland. I feel like a fairytale princess in it, ready to twirl my way through the cobbled streets and discover hidden gems.
Aberdeen itself is a real treat for the senses. Itās a vibrant city with a bustling harbour, charming independent shops, and an abundance of art and culture. You canāt miss the stunning architecture, with grand buildings made of granite, the "grey granite city" they call it, but to me, it feels very elegant. I even found a gorgeous little vintage shop called "Pink Flamingo" ā how could I resist, right? It was like stepping back in time, full of quirky hats, silk scarves and glamorous dresses. I snagged a vintage brooch that looks like itās straight out of a classic ballet costume ā perfect for adding a little extra sparkle to my look.
One of my favourite discoveries was the Aberdeen Performing Arts Centre. Itās a stunning space with several different venues, including the Music Hall, the Pit Theatre and the Lemon Tree. I got to see an incredible ballet performance ā "Swan Lake," of course! It was so magical, and Iām still replaying the elegant pirouettes and graceful extensions in my head.
But you know me, darling, I canāt go anywhere without getting my own dance on! Thereās a fabulous ballet school tucked away in the heart of the city called āAberdeen Ballet Studiosā and I spent the morning there, swirling through their elegant studio with a bunch of eager students. We did some classic ballet exercises, practised some fouettes and even ventured into a bit of contemporary work. It was invigorating and inspiring! The best part? They even had a little shop with some adorable ballet-themed gifts. I snagged a pair of ballerina-inspired earrings ā the perfect little souvenir for a budding ballerina like me.
You canāt visit Aberdeen without experiencing the North Sea coast. So I spent an afternoon walking along the beautiful cliffs of Stonehaven, enjoying the crisp sea air and the awe-inspiring view of the North Sea. Iām so captivated by the wildlife ā I even spotted a pod of playful dolphins in the distance. Seeing those graceful creatures dance in the waves is a little reminder that ballet can be found everywhere, in natureās own grand performances.
And speaking of natureās performances, Aberdeenās parks are truly magical. Duthie Park is like a green haven in the city centre. Imagine strolling through flowerbeds brimming with colour, listening to the gentle whisper of wind through the leaves, and soaking up the warm afternoon sun. The peacefulness of the place washes away all your troubles, it's like a real-life ballet studio.
Aberdeen was simply charming and I couldnāt help but feel the joy of ballet reflected in its cobbled streets, vibrant shops and welcoming locals. The energy of the city was a delightful blend of old-world elegance and modern vibrancy, and it definitely inspired me to explore new ways to move and dance.
Iām back in Derbyshire now, my head brimming with ideas for my next blog posts! But Iām already dreaming of my next adventure ā perhaps somewhere with majestic mountains and glittering lakes? Youāll just have to wait and see, darlings!
Oh, and remember, don't forget your tutu, my dears! Letās get this world twirling in pink. Donāt be shy, pop on a tutu, join me at your local ballet studio, and letās get our hearts beating to the rhythm of ballet!
Lots of love,
Emma
