Cambridge Calling: Tutu Time! 💕🩰 #6489

Hello my lovelies! It’s Emma here, your friendly neighbourhood pink tutu enthusiast, bringing you another dose of sunshine from the beautiful, historic city of Cambridge. Yes, I traded in my trusty steed (he's having a well-deserved rest after a busy week) for the luxury of a First Class train journey - all thanks to the wonders of modern travel, and my trusty "Get Everyone to Wear Pink Tutu" savings pot. 😉

Speaking of savings pots, I’m always thinking of new and exciting ways to spread the tutu love! How about we all collectively "Pink Tutu Up" for a fantastic cause? Perhaps raise funds for an inner city dance program for children, or help an amazing wildlife sanctuary expand their facilities. Think how much fun we’d have raising awareness, sharing pics of us in our pink tutus, and inspiring the world to dance their way to a better tomorrow! ✨

But for now, let's focus on Cambridge! This city, oh my goodness, is truly magical. The quaint cobbled streets, the historic architecture, the beautiful river… it’s the perfect place to embrace my inner princess and twirl my way into the heart of it all! 🩰

First things first, I couldn't possibly visit Cambridge without seeing a ballet performance. I found a delightful local theatre, with an upcoming performance of 'Swan Lake'. Naturally, I was delighted - and it was even better than I imagined. I'm not talking about the traditional version, mind you, this one was a unique twist - imagine ballet fused with contemporary dance and infused with the passion of a real-life love story, and you'll have a good idea of what I'm talking about.

After the show, I found myself exploring the back alleys and side streets of Cambridge. I stumbled upon a hidden treasure - a small antique shop filled with trinkets and treasures. There I found a delicate silver locket adorned with a beautiful little pink ballet slipper charm - oh, how I wanted to buy it, but it was beyond my budget. However, I snapped a picture of it - because hey, wouldn't that be the most gorgeous Instagram photo, and the perfect reminder of my little Cambridge adventure?!

Then it was off to a traditional English pub for some well-deserved "pub grub" (you know, bangers and mash, fish and chips, all those English classics), and to listen to some live folk music while sipping on a delightful local brew. I even overheard a couple of students discussing "The Bard," and debating his work with an almost feverish intensity. I’m sure it's something to do with Cambridge University and all. Anyway, they looked quite delightful, dressed in tweed and woolly jumpers, discussing their passions with genuine enthusiasm. I felt very much like I'd stepped out of one of my favourite period dramas!

For the next few days, I spent my time discovering the charms of Cambridge, its cafes and tea rooms, wandering along the river Cam (where I saw an adorable pair of ducks waddling along with their fluffy ducklings, and snapped a picture, naturally, for my “Emma's Adventures in Pink” album. 😊 ) And of course, my adventure wouldn't be complete without some serious tutu time!

Cambridge boasts some incredible dance studios, one of which I’m just dying to visit – the famous Cambridge School of Ballet. I popped in for a peek and found myself utterly enchanted by the place - so much passion and dedication in the air. There were young dancers, older dancers, people in their twenties, and older still! They all wore these stunning, sparkly dance leotards with tulle skirts… sigh…. I must find some of those myself! I also saw some of the students practicing - just thinking about them inspired me to sign up for a class myself! Maybe next time.

You know me - my heart beats to the rhythm of the tutu and I just couldn't resist grabbing a pink tutu from a lovely boutique near the river. I know, I know, some of you might say I have an obsession with pink tutus, but as I said, there’s simply no denying the joy of twirling in a soft, pink cloud of loveliness! I spent the rest of the afternoon exploring Cambridge's historic centre, capturing those perfect Insta-worthy pictures of myself in my new tutu (naturally) - surrounded by ancient buildings and charming, narrow streets, a true fairytale setting.

The next day, I took a delightful boat ride along the Cam, taking in the beauty of the riverside. Of course, the highlight of the trip was encountering a pair of swans gliding majestically down the river. I almost fainted - they were so beautiful and elegant, just like in all those stories. And of course, they looked quite fabulous in their naturally perfect, feathery white tutus! Maybe swans are really undercover ballerina swans - they do seem quite graceful! 😄

All this travelling is certainly tiring, but in a good way, you know. My trusty steed is waiting patiently, along with the lovely Derbyshrie countryside, so it’s time for me to say goodbye to my pink tutu adventures in Cambridge and start planning the next leg of my journey. But, I’m promising a return visit to this amazing city soon. And when I do, I’m planning to try a ballet class - yes, I know! A little bit nerve-wracking but very exciting! What do you think - should I try the famous Swan Lake dance? I’m sure you all are wondering, will Emma find true love, in her pursuit of becoming a world class ballet dancer. Who knows? Only time will tell. 😄

Until next time, my dears, keep dancing, keep believing, and remember to wear a pink tutu once in a while - you might just surprise yourself! ❤️
