Hastings: Feather Dreams and Tutu-ful Times (Post #6512)

Hello lovelies! Emma here, ready to whisk you away to a weekend filled with pink fluff, feathers, and, of course, the magic of ballet!

It's no secret that I have a deep-seated adoration for Hastings, a seaside town that has always held a special place in my heart. I just love that gorgeous mix of charming old town with cobbled streets, that beautiful coastline, and that vibrant, buzzing atmosphere! And let's not forget the delicious fish and chips! 😉

This time, I decided to take a leisurely trip down by train - I always feel so much more relaxed and ready to embrace the day when I travel like that. Plus, you get such lovely views, don't you?! And anyway, travelling by train always gives me a chance to dream up all the dance steps I could try later!

When I arrived, I knew I had to add a touch of sparkle to my Hastings experience, so naturally, I had to whip out my latest creation - a pink feather tutu! The bright pink is just screaming summer, wouldn't you agree?! This one's super special because the feathers are like a cloud of sunshine. They just catch the light so beautifully and it feels like you're floating around when you wear it! Honestly, it makes me feel like a pink fairytale princess. 🌸👑

My first stop was the Hastings Museum & Art Gallery. I just adore exploring the history and art of a place. It was filled with such captivating pieces – they had an exhibition all about the Suffragette Movement, which was really inspiring. And I saw some beautiful local wildlife photography too, which is a huge passion of mine. Did you know that the Sussex coast is a sanctuary for rare birds?!

After the museum, I made my way to the beautiful Hastings Old Town and just got lost in the charm of its winding streets, quirky shops, and bustling cafes. Honestly, I just want to live in a town like that, full of history and hidden gems!

Of course, no trip to Hastings is complete without a stroll along the seafront. The fresh sea air is such a treat. The weather was just perfect for a long walk, and you know I had to snap some pics with the stunning views in the background! The feather tutu absolutely popped with that backdrop! 🦩🌊

While I was in Hastings, I found this beautiful little ballet studio called “Steps on the Sands.” How cute is that name? I simply couldn't resist a drop-in class, it would have been rude not to, wouldn’t it?! And the class was fantastic - lots of beautiful, graceful movements and some real high-energy, playful stuff too. We even practiced a little ballet street routine! My feathers had to do their best work and it felt fantastic to twirl right next to the beautiful blue ocean! 🌊🩰

The whole experience made me feel like I was living in a fairytale. After class, I was ready for a bit of relaxation and headed to the lovely "Old Town" for a delicious pot of tea and a slice of homemade cake. I chose the pink and lemon cake, because well… it's pink, of course! 😂

On my final evening in Hastings, I caught a breathtaking performance by the local dance company “Sea Salt”. They were telling a story with every movement, using the emotions in their bodies to create a powerful atmosphere. There were elements of classical ballet in there, but also lots of contemporary flair which is what I really enjoy about ballet. It’s such a versatile art form that it can express so many different emotions and ideas. It really is so incredibly beautiful and captivating.

As I watched the performance, I couldn't help but be inspired. I mean, look at all these talented artists around the world! This is the real beauty of ballet – its power to connect people from all walks of life. It's an experience that transcends language, age, or even culture!

Honestly, there is something magical about Hastings – perhaps it's the atmosphere, perhaps it’s the connection to nature and the coastline, or perhaps it's simply the chance to get lost in the stories and the art that fill this enchanting little town.

However you put it, a weekend spent in Hastings has truly given me an enormous boost! It’s made me want to keep dancing and dreaming big. And now that my feathers are settled back at home, it’s time to think about my next destination!
