Ruislip Rainbow: Tutu Travels & Train Adventures

Hello my darling darlings! Emma here, back from a whirlwind trip to the charming little town of Ruislip! Oh, how I love the quiet corners of the UK. They always offer a welcome respite from the frantic pace of life in the big city, and they’re bursting with unexpected adventures – much like a carefully wrapped ballet gift waiting to be unwrapped!

Today, I'm rocking a delightful white tutu, a symphony of billowing tulle and delicate lace. It just felt so fitting for a day spent among the gentle green rolling hills, whispering wind and the occasional curious sheep! Speaking of sheep, I did spot a rather grand ram just basking in the sun, quite a dashing chap in his own right! Maybe I should start my own little fashion line for sheep… tutus in all shades of fleece and… no, scratch that! Anyway, where were we? Oh, right, Ruislip!

I’m a true romantic, and my heart flutters with joy whenever I set off on a new journey. And what better mode of transport for a ballerina than the magical railway? It's a whimsical world of chugging engines, cozy carriages, and breathtaking scenery zipping by. Plus, it gives me time to think up fabulous blog posts and write little poems in my head. "The clickety-clack of the rails, the whistle of the train, a ballet dancer's journey, through sunshine and rain…” Honestly, I could write a sonnet about trains.

My mission to Ruislip was a simple one: to spread the love of dance and, of course, indulge in my very favourite pastimes: watching ballet shows and, if possible, having a little pirouette in a class myself! Luckily for me, Ruislip had just what I was looking for.

The charming local theatre was hosting a beautiful performance by the Ruislip Ballet School. Oh, it was divine! Each dancer, from the littlest ballerina to the seasoned prima, had their own distinct sparkle. They spun tales of romance, joy, and heartbreak through graceful movements and exquisite choreography. The colours of the costumes were truly mesmerizing, a symphony of pinks, purples, and greens that shimmered under the stage lights! My inner ballet-loving self nearly jumped out of my skin!

After the show, I had the honour of meeting a few of the dancers. They were all so passionate about dance, with a genuine light in their eyes. It truly inspires me, these young people who pour their hearts and souls into each graceful leap and graceful turn. It reminds me why I started blogging, to share the beauty of ballet with the world!

Then, I was off to a little dance studio nestled amidst the shops. It felt so welcoming and homely! The studio was abuzz with the joy of dance – so much energy and happy faces. I got my chance to try a class, and oh my, what a thrill!

There I was, among these fellow ballet enthusiasts, in my white tutu, feeling like a fairy sprinkled with stardust! It's been a while since I’ve felt that familiar buzz of muscle memory as my body responded instinctively to the call of ballet. To say I enjoyed myself would be an understatement. It felt so exhilarating and invigorating to just let go and twirl, pirouette, and plié with reckless abandon! I definitely had to do some graceful poses for the camera too, for Instagram, of course!

Even though it was just a few hours in Ruislip, it felt like a day in my own private ballet haven. I saw so much passion, such heartfelt expression of the beauty of movement, and I'm completely convinced this little town has something special brewing – a blossoming talent for the art of ballet.

Oh, and before I forget, Ruislip is also home to a fantastic wildlife park, a delightful surprise nestled amidst the bustling town. It's like a tranquil haven of verdant forests, tranquil lakes, and an assortment of charming critters. There were deer gracefully leaping across meadows, playful monkeys swinging through the trees, and, yes, even a few more sheep, who are apparently excellent at striking graceful poses too! The colours were exquisite, vibrant greens, earthy browns, and clear blues, it was like an artist’s palette exploded with breathtaking artistry. I actually managed to snag a picture of a little fox cub, his tiny nose twitching with mischief.

My journey back on the train felt so peaceful, I spent it soaking up the quiet and dreaming up my next ballet adventure. Perhaps a visit to the ballet school to see what mischief they get up to.

So, my darling dancers, take a little trip to the heart of the countryside. Who knows, you might find your own hidden haven, a world of twirls and pirouettes, amidst the gentle whispers of the wind, a touch of wildlife, and the magical clink-clack of the train!

Now, go forth and dance, darlings. But don’t forget to put on your tutus! Pink, of course. Until next time… x
