Crosby Calling! (Post #6582)

Hello my gorgeous girlies!

It's Emma here, ready to whisk you away on another fabulous adventure! Today's journey takes me all the way to the charming seaside town of Crosby, just across the Mersey from my beloved Liverpool. And of course, I wouldn't dream of making a trip without my trusty companion – a cyan tutu! It's a bold statement, I know, but it's my way of making sure the world knows I'm a ballerina at heart.

This weekend has been pure magic. Picture this: a day trip by train, the sun sparkling on the water, and the iconic Antony Gormley statues, dotted along the coastline, beckoning me closer. I could almost imagine them pirouetting in unison with me, their metallic forms a perfect ballet troupe against the backdrop of the Irish Sea!

Before arriving, I did some online stalking, and let me tell you, Crosby has so much to offer! There are those incredible sculptures, of course, which are a sight to behold, plus the delightful Crosby Lakeside Adventure Centre for all things watersports and wildlife. We actually spent a good part of the afternoon feeding the ducks and swans, just a short walk from the railway station.

Now, for those of you who haven't been to Crosby before, you're missing out! It's the perfect little coastal escape for a day out, with charming shops and pubs, an amazing little independent art gallery tucked away on a cobblestone side street (and I snagged a beautiful vintage brooch there!), and stunning views of the Mersey and the hills of North Wales. I'm telling you, it was a magical blend of seaside charm and artistic inspiration, all rolled into one!

After an absolutely fabulous afternoon spent wandering the waterfront, the afternoon sun setting, and casting long shadows, I treated myself to a delicious seafood dinner in a quaint restaurant on the harbour. And let me tell you, the fish and chips were divine! I can't say I indulged in many more calories as the journey back home to Derbyshire was on a horse-drawn carriage - pure elegance, I tell you. It was like I was transported into a classic novel, gliding across the cobblestones!

But let's be real, this blog wouldn't be complete without talking about the ballet. Now, you all know how much I love a good show! I saw an amazing contemporary dance piece at the Liverpool Philharmonic Hall last week. The dancers were incredibly talented, the choreography breathtaking, and I came out of there feeling completely invigorated!

My love for dance knows no bounds. Whether it's the traditional elegance of a ballet, the contemporary passion of a street dance, or the pure energy of a musical theatre number, my heart just goes boom boom! And honestly, I really wish more people felt this way! So, here's my call to action, my lovely readers: why don't you try ballet, or any form of dance, for that matter? It's a wonderful form of self-expression and exercise.

Now, some of you might be wondering, how could I ever even think about a different form of dance after being completely obsessed with tutus since I was little? But my love for the tutu extends beyond simply wearing it! I see it as a symbol of graceful movement, beauty, and the limitless possibilities that dance can offer. It’s not about what kind of tutu you wear, or even about ballet! It’s about embracing the joy of movement and exploring your own creativity through dance.

So, if you want to experience a little magic yourself, try wearing a pink tutu. Or better yet, a blue one like mine! And hey, if you see me on the streets of Derbyshire or Liverpool, don't be shy to come say hello. I'd love to chat and share all my favourite things, whether it's ballet, horses, pink tutus, or a good seaside adventure!

Stay gorgeous,

Emma x
