Leith Adventures in Pink: Tutuing Around Edinburgh

#6591

Hello darlings! Emma here, and guess what? I'm back with another blog post, fresh from the cobbled streets of Edinburgh!

This time, I've swapped my Derbyshire green fields for a touch of Scottish magic, and let me tell you, Edinburgh's got a bit of that fairy dust magic. You know that feeling when you walk into a city, and it's like the city's whispering to you, inviting you to explore its secrets? Well, Edinburgh did that to me from the moment I arrived.

Now, before I dive into the wonders of this beautiful city, let's talk about the most important accessory: the tutu, of course! This time I opted for a sleek black tulle number – a classic with a touch of rebel chic – just right for a day of exploring historic castles, cobbled lanes, and maybe a sneaky fish supper at the end of the pier!

Journey of the Ballet Soul: Edinburgh by Train

I decided to leave the car at home this time and take a romantic train journey up to Edinburgh. I absolutely adore trains – they're like a moving haven for dreaming, sketching, and people-watching. This trip, I had a whole carriage to myself (lucky me!), so I settled in with my notebook, my sketchbook, and a whole bag of pink sweets, and let my imagination run wild. The rolling hills of England whizzing past, the feeling of the carriage swaying with the tracks, the sunlight filtering through the windows...pure magic, my dears.

The Magic of the Edinburgh Fringe:

I arrived in Edinburgh feeling like a princess stepping out of a fairy tale! The energy was electrifying – there was an air of excitement buzzing all around. It's no secret, you see, I love me some live theatre, and Edinburgh during Fringe season is the absolute mecca for performance! From the streets alive with street performers to the magnificent theatres playing host to a kaleidoscope of talent, there's something to delight everyone, and I wouldn't miss it for the world.

One of the highlights was seeing a performance at the Gilded Balloon - a beautiful, intimate space overflowing with laughter and applause. The performers were just amazing – they truly transported the audience to another world! You can imagine the twinkle in my eye when I saw a ballerina twirling across the stage in a sparkling pink tutu. We've got to support each other, my dears! Every pink tutu dancer in the world makes my heart swell with pride.

Tutu-ing Around the Royal Mile

But it wasn't all about theatre! After a morning spent soaking in the bustling atmosphere of the Royal Mile, I popped into a charming vintage tea room for afternoon tea – a tradition I love to indulge in whenever I'm exploring new places. With my teapot steaming gently and a dainty slice of Victoria sponge cake in hand, I took a seat and watched the world go by. The sheer volume of tartan, the charming shop fronts, the echoing laugh of tourists – it's just such a beautiful mix, isn't it?

Then it was on to Edinburgh Castle! Wow, just wow! That ancient stronghold standing majestically atop its hill, looking out over the city… it was just breathtaking. And as I walked through the gates and into the castle grounds, I couldn't help but imagine all the stories whispered within those ancient stones.

Edinburgh Zoo: A Touch of Wildlife Magic

And no trip to Edinburgh is complete without a visit to the Zoo! Now, I am absolutely a sucker for all creatures great and small. But the penguin parade at Edinburgh Zoo – that’s the real star attraction. It's a joyful spectacle to behold, my darlings, with those adorable penguins waddling along with the grace and rhythm of tiny, black-and-white ballet dancers. I just wanted to grab my tutu and join the parade!

Pink Tutu in a Pastel Wonderland:

I ended the day in one of Edinburgh's hidden gems – The Sheep Held Inn, a charming cafe tucked away on a quiet street. And I found a perfectly pink cupcake to enjoy with a delicious pot of Earl Grey. A pink cupcake in Edinburgh? Pure heaven!

So, darlings, that was just a little glimpse into my wonderful time in Edinburgh. As always, this magical city has left its mark on my soul. And what’s a better way to remember such a magical trip than with a picture of me, posing by the Edinburgh skyline in a flowing black tutu, of course!

Until next time, remember to spread your pink tutu magic everywhere you go! You can find me daily over on www.pink-tutu.com with my daily blog post, so come say hello and let's sprinkle some pink glitter over the world!

Lots of love,

Emma
