Sutton in a Pink Tutu! (Post 6615)

Hello my lovely Tutu Tribe! It's Emma here, back from a whirlwind trip to Sutton! Oh my, what a fabulous time I had exploring this charming town in all its glory, pink tutu and all!

Today’s blog post is number 6615, and it's dedicated to sharing the delights of Sutton with you. So grab your favourite cuppa, settle down, and let’s take a little trip together, shall we?

The journey started bright and early this morning. I adore taking the train, the rhythm of the tracks is so calming. It was such a glorious day – the sun was shining, the countryside whizzed by in a blur of greens and golds, and I couldn’t help but tap my feet to the beat of my favourite ballet music.

It took about 45 minutes for the train to get me to Sutton – what a delightful little town! My heart nearly skipped a beat when I stepped off the station onto cobblestone streets lined with charming cafes and flower-filled window boxes. It felt like I’d been whisked back to a storybook.

Discovering Sutton's Charm

First stop? A delicious slice of lemon meringue pie at "The Little Tea Room." Now, I'm not sure what was sweeter – the pie or the cafe’s pastel-coloured décor. It was pure bliss!

After my treat, I strolled through the charming market square, marvelling at the stalls brimming with colourful flowers, homemade jams, and local cheeses. The smell of freshly baked bread filled the air, making me wish I had a bigger appetite.

The local wildlife here was quite the spectacle! The sparrows chirped happily on the roof of the town hall, and I even caught sight of a playful squirrel scampering through the branches of a gnarled oak tree. Such beauty, so much joy, everywhere I looked.

A Pink Tutu at the Theatre

Speaking of joy, my favourite part of my Sutton adventure came next. A visit to the historic "Sutton Theatre." I’ve been an avid ballet fan ever since I was a little girl, so I couldn't resist booking tickets for their evening performance of Swan Lake. It was stunning! The dancers were absolutely magical, their movements fluid and graceful, and their expressions conveyed so much emotion. I felt myself transported into another world. I felt a lump in my throat at times, I loved it so much.

As always, I chose to wear a pink tutu. It made the evening even more special. I was quite the sight! I love the way my tutu stands out against the crowd. It sparks conversations with other people – who knows, maybe I inspired a few folks to consider joining the pink tutu revolution?

Afterwards, I treated myself to a well-deserved glass of pink champagne at the charming "Sutton Arms," a friendly local pub with a cosy, intimate atmosphere. This was followed by an equally well-deserved and very relaxing ride on the "Sutton Scenic Railway," a real steam engine that brought back wonderful memories of my childhood, where my grandad would take me to the seaside by train. It was an experience I will never forget.

Ballet Dreams in Sutton

I spent the night in a beautiful bed and breakfast called "The Lavender Cottage." A pretty and quaint B&B where my breakfast included a basket of local raspberries and cream. My room was filled with lavender scent, and I awoke feeling relaxed and revitalised – ready to enjoy the day.

This morning, I indulged my inner ballerina at the Sutton Ballet School. This quaint little gem is hidden in a cobblestone side street, and it's absolutely magical. They even offered a "Pink Tutu Taster Class", especially designed for beginners!

Despite never having a proper ballet class before, I had a blast. The teacher was amazing, full of encouragement, and the class felt incredibly supportive, as I fumbled through the steps in my pink tutu. It's so rewarding to push myself outside my comfort zone! It truly makes me appreciate the art of ballet even more. It's a form of dance that combines strength and grace, discipline and passion. And Sutton Ballet School was a lovely way to immerse myself in its beauty and joy.

Sutton is truly a town where ballet dreams can bloom! Maybe next time, I'll take a pink tutu ballet class here!

Bringing the Pink Tutu Revolution to Sutton

As always, my pink tutu journey wasn't just about me. It was also about spreading the pink tutu spirit, spreading the joy of dance and the importance of following your dreams!

While strolling through the market, I stopped to talk with the local bakery owner, who mentioned his granddaughter loved dancing. I encouraged him to bring her to a local ballet class and suggested she try wearing a pink tutu! He promised to try.

As for my journey? It ended on a perfect note. I jumped onto a horse drawn carriage - Sutton is quite old fashioned, you know. - and rode it through the beautiful park where the swans are fed by tourists in their beautiful traditional dress, as we all dream of having such pretty clothes and taking the opportunity to dress up in an old-fashioned way. What an experience!

Sutton, you stole my heart!

My tutu journey isn't about being perfect – it's about embracing every experience, big or small, and sharing my passion for pink tutus and everything they represent: grace, beauty, self-expression, and a sprinkle of magic!

I encourage you, my dear Tutu Tribe, to go out there and explore the world. Try a new dance class, embrace a colour that brings you joy, and most importantly, always believe in the power of your own dreams! And let's not forget: always, always wear a pink tutu!

Keep your tutus twirling, and I'll see you soon for another exciting adventure.

Until next time,

Emma
