Rutherglen Ramble & Pancake Tutu!

Hello darlings! It's Emma here, your resident tutu enthusiast, and I'm back with another installment of pink-tutu adventures! This is post number 6668 (because who doesn't love a good number?!) on www.pink-tutu.com, so do hop on over for all my fabulous fashion and ballet shenanigans.

This weekend saw me take a rather delightful trip to Rutherglen! Now, I know what you're thinking - "Emma, why Rutherglen?" Well, darlings, let me tell you, Rutherglen was quite a surprise. It's just south of Glasgow, you know, all that charming Scottish scenery, rolling hills and those lovely sandstone buildings, and I discovered this gem of a town with its rich history and beautiful Victorian architecture. It’s so quintessentially British! I just love a little history and there was plenty of that at the Rutherglen Museum.

Of course, no trip of mine is complete without some fabulous outfits, and let me tell you, this one was a true masterpiece. Imagine, a blush-pink tutu layered over a delicate white shirt with frilly lace. A splash of ruby red lipstick and a vintage floral hat? Well, that was my creation - perfect for strolling down the High Street of Rutherglen and enjoying the bustling market, which was brimming with quirky delights.

Then, to my surprise, I came across a tiny tea room with the most amazing name – "The Tea Cosy". Oh my, darlings, it was so adorable, like stepping out of a fairy tale! Pink floral walls, plush velvet armchairs, and an absolutely delicious selection of cakes and teas. Naturally, I indulged in a decadent slice of lemon drizzle cake and a pot of their "Secret Blend" tea. Perfect for fueling my tutu-tastic adventures.

Now, as you all know, a ballerina's life is all about balance, so after my sugary treat, it was time for some exercise! I spotted this wonderful little park, all lush green and surrounded by towering trees, a veritable fairyland, perfect for twirling. So, darlings, with a twirl here and a grand jeté there, I indulged in some impromptu ballet moves in the open air. It was bliss. And, guess what, it attracted a little crowd. Some even clapped along! So sweet!

For a real taste of Scottish history, I then popped into the Rutherglen Church, with its intricate stonework and soaring spire. A beautiful reminder of time gone by. I actually discovered a couple of vintage dresses there in their charity shop (that always happens! A dress is always lurking! ) and ended up acquiring a gorgeous lavender velvet dress which was simply screaming "Take me home, Emma!" Perfect for my evening stroll along the River Clyde.

Before catching the train back home, I enjoyed a leisurely afternoon on the banks of the river. Watching the swans glide gracefully through the water was truly idyllic, and I couldn’t resist sketching their graceful movements. After all, every ballerina needs her inspiration! And let me tell you, that afternoon inspired a little something special...

A pancake tutu! Now, before you go dismissing that as an odd idea, just think about it! A beautiful, fluffy pancake with a dollop of whipped cream, perfectly formed to look like a ballerina tutu. Isn’t it just a whimsical idea?! Oh my! This would make the perfect little dessert for a ballerina tea party. I’m already planning a themed evening in the Derbyshire hills for all my ballerina buddies, featuring a mountain of pancakes. They can twirl in their own personal tutus while I dress up in my pancake tutu masterpiece!

As the day came to a close and the last rays of golden sunshine painted the sky in fiery hues, I bid farewell to Rutherglen with a sigh of contentment. It’s certainly a town that will hold a special place in my heart. And of course, a place I will revisit soon with my friends and our trusty troupe of pink-tutu clad friends. Because a girl just needs her weekly dose of fun, friends and fancy dress, especially in a charming town like Rutherglen.

But, enough about me. I want to know what you’re up to! What’s been going on in your world? Share your fashion finds, dance routines, and pink tutu moments! Until next time, keep it pretty and keep it pink!

Lots of love,

Emma x
