Kendal Calling: A Tutu-ful Time in the Lake District

Helloooo my gorgeous girlies! 👋 Emma here, bringing you another dose of pink and sparkle from the fabulous world of tutu-land. Today, we're swapping the city lights of London for the rolling hills and crisp air of the Lake District.

And, guess what? You guessed it! I'm sporting my gorgeous purple tutu! It just screams "adventure" and "let's explore!" This tutu is going to take me on some incredible journeys today. Imagine it: me, pirouetteing amongst the sheep on a sunny hillside or twirling by the side of a crystal-clear lake. It's all just too dreamy!

You know me - I love my ballet. I'm always happiest when I'm swirling and leaping in a tutu. But I also adore taking it out of the studio and bringing a bit of "ballet magic" into my everyday adventures. And this week? This week, it's all about Kendall Calling, a delightful little music festival nestled in the beautiful countryside.

Train Adventures: From Derbyshire to the Lakes

My journey to Kendall started bright and early this morning. I couldn't wait to leave my Derbyshire home for a weekend filled with music, laughter, and, of course, a bit of tutu-wearing. My travel companion for this escapade was my trusty steed - the Northern Rail service. Oh, the joys of British trains! There's nothing quite like looking out the window, watching the green hills of the Pennines fly by as I munch on a homemade tuna sandwich (with plenty of pink sprinkles on the bread, of course!).

A Fairytale Setting for Tutu-ful Fun

Reaching Kendal was like stepping into a fairytale. Imagine: a charming, bustling little town with ancient stone walls, cosy cafes, and friendly faces. The festival site was just a short hop away. You know, when I get there, it's straight to the camping spot. Setting up my tent is always a chore. But this year I was super-excited to discover a new tent. Not only did it have all the modern day essentials: it was a bright shade of pink, adorned with little pink tutus. This girl was going to live like a princess this weekend.

Music, Mayhem, and Mayhem in my Tutu!

I was all ready to start enjoying the fun with my friends and all that this weekend held. There was just so much going on. So much music - every style you could wish for; every mood, from gentle acoustic melodies to hard rock and electrifying electronica - there's a band playing for everyone, day and night. There were theatre performances too, from Shakespearean masterpieces to modern dance extravaganzas. Even wildlife, like birds of prey displays, brought in for the thrill. There were talks, workshops - enough to satisfy even the most inquisitive mind! The most fun was being able to just lose yourself in the whole experience: enjoying the atmosphere, getting caught up in the music, dancing with friends, or simply letting my imagination soar while I watched talented musicians and dancers express themselves.

But I gotta tell ya, Kendall Calling wouldn’t be Kendall Calling without my trusty purple tutu! It's such a conversation starter. Everywhere I went, people stopped to admire it, tell me how amazing it looked, and ask me where I got it. And let me tell you, there were some super cool tutu-themed outfits and accessories at the festival! From tutu-topped headbands to sparkly tutu skirts - you could really embrace your inner ballerina.

Tutu Time With New Friends

I know that some people think I'm a bit odd for loving tutus so much, but honestly, it's just so much fun! It makes me feel like a princess, a superhero, a ballerina – and most importantly, it makes me feel confident and happy. It really brings out my inner twirly-girl, which is the best part.

At Kendall Calling, I met loads of lovely people. Some of them were other dancers who came to share their passion with me, and we had a little tutu dance off. Imagine!

And here’s my little secret: I gave everyone who was interested in it a pink tutu, too. Because what's life without a little pink in your world? It's been a fantastic journey. If you ever want to dance under the open skies, make a new friend, have fun and watch birds of prey perform, Kendall Calling is for you!

From the Lake District with Love

Now, I'm gonna catch up on some well-deserved sleep. I've got to be ready to hop back on the train to Derbyshire in the morning, armed with tons of new stories and photos for the website. I know I’ll miss the crisp air and wide open spaces, and those gorgeous hills. It’s certainly left its mark on me. This experience? It’s all just another reason to wear your tutu every day. Embrace the ballerina inside, girlies! You’re beautiful! Don’t forget to follow me on Instagram for even more pink tutu fun, and until next time, twirl on!

XOXO

Emma
