Liverpool, You’ve Stolen My Heart (and My Tutu!) 🩰💖

Post 6716

Hey darlings! It's Emma here, your favourite pink-tutu-clad adventurer, back with another fabulous travel tale, and oh my, Liverpool has truly taken my breath away!

As you know, I'm a bit obsessed with anything that twirls and sparkles, so when the chance to visit Liverpool popped up, I knew I had to go. And how could I resist the opportunity to wear a new, European-style tutu, inspired by the iconic red of the Beatles' album covers and the elegant cobblestone streets of this charming city?

I have to tell you, I don't think I've ever felt as fabulous as I did on this trip. We started the day with a visit to the historic Royal Albert Dock. Now, you may think I'm biased, but the whole place practically screamed "ballet"! The beautifully restored brick warehouses, the waterfront, and the bustling cafes felt like they were straight out of a fairytale. The vibrant atmosphere and the endless photographic opportunities were simply too good to be true. I even found a vintage record store bursting with music, making it practically irresistible to indulge in a few 45s of classic Liverpool tunes (with a pink tinge of course!).

I just couldn't get enough of the amazing architecture in Liverpool! From the Liver Building, with its famous Liver Birds soaring high above the city, to the stunning neoclassical buildings of the Philharmonic Hall, where I later caught a performance of Swan Lake - pure perfection! Honestly, I had to pinch myself. My heart did a little pirouette! The grace of the dancers combined with the beautiful music created an enchanting atmosphere. The costumes, even without a touch of pink, were magnificent. If I wasn’t on holiday, I might have tried to join the chorus on stage!

Tutu Style Tip: To compliment the classic architectural beauty of Liverpool, I opted for a stunning European-style tutu in a deep crimson red with shimmering gold accents. It was the perfect balance of modern and timeless, evoking the spirit of the city. Just picture it – a swirling cloud of scarlet against a backdrop of majestic stone buildings. Pure cinematic magic, right?

Speaking of magic, we couldn't miss a trip to the Magical Mystery Tour! Yes, that’s right, my darlings! A real life Beatles’ themed bus tour. You can practically hear “Penny Lane” playing in the background while you take in the charming sights. Of course, I wore a tutu - you can’t go on a magical journey without one! We also found an enchanting old world-style café where we could stop for tea and scones, the quintessential British afternoon treat. Oh, the bliss!

The Best Bit: What truly stole my heart was the warmth of the people. I swear, everyone I met was so kind, friendly, and welcoming! There was this delightful lady in a bookshop (with a very good collection of ballet literature, naturally), she gave me the best tips for exploring the city! She even complimented me on my tutu! The charm of this city, from the historic buildings to the warmhearted people, truly charmed me.

Before heading back, we made time to explore the waterfront area around the Albert Dock. A picturesque canal ran alongside the dock, lined with pretty buildings and quirky shops. There, we indulged in a scrumptious fish and chips lunch with a view of the Liver Building! As if by chance, I found the perfect pink feather boa to add a touch of magic to my Liverpool ensemble, and let me tell you, the birds weren’t the only ones flying high in the sky that day!

The city has a wonderfully vibrant cultural scene and is a must for any ballerina-at-heart who appreciates music, theatre, history, and a touch of pink. There were just so many possibilities for exploring this stunning city! My little toes (and my big tutu) couldn’t wait to hit the floor and explore it all!

A Message for My Dear Readers: Don't be afraid to twirl out of your comfort zone and embrace your inner ballerina, darlings!

I know many of you shy away from the world of ballet, but believe me, the magic is waiting for you. Trust me, all you need is a pink tutu, a heart full of wonder, and the courage to dance like no one is watching.

Love, Emma 💕
