Derby Darling: A Cyan Tutu Tale

#TutuBlog #6722

Hello my beautiful ballet bunnies! It’s your girl Emma, signing in live from the historic city of Derby!

I just knew this weekend had to be all about tutus, trains, and a touch of whimsy! This morning, I was practically bouncing with excitement as I headed down to Derby. You know me, a girl after my own heart simply can’t resist a bit of adventure. And let’s be real, every girl needs a good tutu adventure in her life, especially if it involves a trip to the grand city of Derby.

For today's escapades, I decided on a stunning, shimmering cyan tutu that I just knew was going to turn heads. I paired it with a soft pink blouse, because let’s be honest, what’s a tutu adventure without a splash of pink?

You wouldn't believe the journey! I boarded the train with a skip in my step, leaving the rolling green hills of Derbyshire behind me. My pink suitcase – adorned with a cheeky little ballet shoe charm, of course – nestled happily on the seat next to me. I had a feeling this weekend was going to be just magical.

I love the atmosphere of train travel! Every window seems like a painting. I felt like I was starring in a ballet scene – you know, the kind where the dancers flit about in airy tutus, the countryside blurring by in a joyful blur of green and blue. It was a feeling I knew all too well! I spent the journey enjoying a delectable strawberry and cream éclair and catching up on my favourite ballet bloggers – the ones who get just as excited about pointe shoes as I do.

When I arrived in Derby, the first thing I did was take a slow stroll down the famous Sadler Gate – just to feel the vibe of this vibrant, historical place. And, of course, I snapped a few pictures – the cyang tutu practically demanded it! The stone buildings with their unique architecture and quaint little cafes filled with happy locals felt like I had stepped back in time. Derby has this lovely charming vibe about it – it feels friendly and welcoming.

You know, Derby has a long history of ballet, dating back to the 18th century! It makes sense, considering its rich heritage of dance and theatre. I imagine elegant dancers swirling across the stages here in elaborate tutus, bringing stories to life.

To embrace the true Derby spirit, I ventured into one of the charming local cafes to indulge in a proper cream tea. And you won't believe this – they even had a selection of mini tutus on offer, in a rainbow of colours. You can imagine me, the self-proclaimed Queen of Tutus, indulging in the pink one! I paired it with a piping hot pot of Earl Grey tea and a fresh, buttery scone - pure bliss!

The afternoon saw me experiencing a little slice of Derby's exciting art scene. I'm sure you’ll agree, a trip to Derby wouldn't be complete without a visit to The Derby Theatre. I spent an hour soaking in a performance by the Derby Theatre Company, an absolute delight! They have this wonderful blend of dance and theatre, telling stories that really get you feeling the emotions – laughter, tears, joy, and everything in between. It was pure magic, reminding me why I'm so passionate about the art of ballet.

For my final stop of the day, I ventured out into the wilds of Derbyshire to see if I could spot any of our beautiful native wildlife. You can always find me in awe of the incredible natural world! I even took my camera for some "wildlife with a tutu" photographs, as you can see here. Don't be fooled by the name “wildlife” - these wild friends aren’t quite as adventurous as me – but they did let me share a pretty little patch of woodland, where I sat in my cyan tutu, lost in the sweet music of nature’s symphony. Just imagine – me, the ballet queen, sharing space with little critters in their quiet, magical woodland haven.

As the day drew to a close, I took a seat in the quaint little hotel that I booked. Their garden is heavenly and reminded me of a balletic paradise – a haven for fairies and all things magical! Later that night, the smell of lavender in my luxurious bathroom as I took my relaxing bath with a slice of lemon and a cup of soothing chamomile tea calmed my heart as I got ready for a night of dreaming about ballet!

And before you go – I want to talk about the beauty of our little world. We are truly surrounded by magic in every corner, whether it's a playful sparrow hopping in a garden, the gentle caress of a breeze, or the grace of a dancer. The power of dance, art, and nature truly inspires me to make a positive impact on the world, and I encourage each and every one of you to embrace that same spark of magic within yourselves. Embrace your inner dancer, embrace the pink tutu and go out and show the world what you're made of!

Remember, you're all beautifully unique in your own right, and together, we can make the world a brighter, more vibrant place – one tutu at a time! Until next time my loves, keep on dancing!

And as always – #pinktutueveryday!
