Hey lovelies! So, I'm sitting on the train to Slough, and let me tell you, the view from here is divine! It’s such a treat being in the countryside on a crisp December day. The trees are all stark and beautiful, their branches like a giant spiderweb of glistening ice. Just picture it: Me, with my new, slightly battered but ever-so-glamorous, pink tutu, bobbing on a rocking train. Doesn't that just scream, "Oh-la-la?"

Anyway, Slough is on the agenda today for a spot of ballet! This afternoon, I'm going to the utterly adorable Swan Lake performance put on by the Slough Ballet Academy, and I am beyond excited! Now, I've seen Swan Lake about a million times, but it’s just so beautiful, it never gets old. Especially when you’re in such a quaint, gorgeous setting. This academy actually shares their space with a wildlife sanctuary, so I get to enjoy watching swans on my way in! Talk about idyllic!

Just for the record, Slough has given me some serious wanderlust lately. Don't get me wrong, I adore Derbyshire – it's my home, and it will always be close to my heart, but it's just nice to see some new landscapes and experience some different vibes.

It's actually quite ironic that I find myself falling in love with Slough because, well, the stereotype… right? But here’s the thing: If you’ve never ventured to Slough, don’t just go on reputation! This little town’s got its own unique magic, I promise.

Of course, a good chunk of that magic comes from the gorgeous ballet studio. I’m completely head over heels for their building; it's this delightful brick building with a fantastic high ceiling and large windows, all flooded with beautiful light. You feel this warmth, this joy, the minute you walk through the door. That, for me, is true beauty.

Even before stepping foot in the actual studios, I had a quick snoop in their courtyard. It was adorable! It felt so intimate, with a small stage they used for outdoor classes when the weather’s nice. There was even this old oak tree, standing proud and strong right at the back, offering some shade.

If you're looking for somewhere a little less mainstream but just as fab, then you should add Slough to your ballet tour itinerary! This little town knows how to pack a punch!

Anyway, before I delve into a full ballet-themed deep dive and risk sounding like a complete obsessive, let's chat about fashion.

This journey called "life" has been filled with so many "wow" moments – from performing on stage to those intimate ballet classes where you can really connect with the music and movement. And each and every moment deserves the perfect outfit. Today’s outfit was definitely all about comfort and sophistication with a splash of that oh-so-feminine pink, of course!

I went for my classic black tutu; it’s been through so many shows, classes, and rehearsals with me, it feels like a loyal old friend. I paired it with a blush-pink turtleneck top – yes, a turtleneck! This top's been one of my greatest fashion discoveries. It's a must-have for winter because it adds this gorgeous warmth and, most importantly, it works perfectly under my tutu for those colder ballet class days.

For shoes, I opted for my comfy brown ankle boots, paired with some cute floral tights – you can never have too much floral, right?! I’m pretty sure these were an absolute steal from a tiny little shop near Nottingham station!

Of course, no outfit's complete without a good dose of personality. So, I finished things off with my trusty, oversized pearl necklace – my go-to statement piece for a dose of glamour.

Today’s fashion message is pretty simple: It’s all about staying true to your style! The black and pink combo really brings that elegant yet playful touch, and the turtleneck provides that added touch of sophisticated warmth. It's just about rocking those elements you love and giving yourself that extra touch of confidence. And, yes, you guessed it, it definitely gets a double thumbs up from your resident tutu girl!

I’ve got to be honest; getting dressed up in this way really helps boost my spirits. There’s just this innate connection between expressing yourself through your clothes and how it enhances your feeling of self. Don’t be afraid to try something new, something exciting – like maybe a bright, beautiful pink tutu! Who knows, it just might be the magic you need to lift your mood!

You can trust me to find more incredible hidden gems – ballet gems and fashion gems! You see, I'm just like that… always seeking those beautiful, unique things in life. It’s like a second nature, really! I know it sounds corny, but the universe has this amazing way of opening up those incredible doors just when you need them to.

So, if you happen to see a tutu-wearing lady in the countryside (maybe with a rocking rocking train!), that's me, your tutu girl, off on a ballet adventure. I hope my blog will encourage you to go out there, embrace those little details that make life wonderful. And remember, there’s nothing wrong with adding a touch of magic to your day!

Now, it's time to immerse myself in the world of Swan Lake in this magical ballet studio in Slough. And for all those dancing ladies out there – have a great time in your classes or performances, because nothing beats feeling those happy endorphins!

Lots of love,

Emma x
