Sutton in Ashfield: Tutu-ing Around the Midlands! 🩰💖

Hey my darlings! Emma here, your resident pink-tutu-clad ballet enthusiast, ready to whisk you away on a whimsical adventure through the beautiful county of Nottinghamshire. This is post number 6853 for www.pink-tutu.com, and today I’m sharing all the delightful details of my latest journey to Sutton in Ashfield!

Now, I'm a Derbyshire girl at heart, so my love affair with the East Midlands runs deep. When I heard about a fabulous new ballet studio opening in Sutton in Ashfield, well, I couldn't resist. It's not just a ballet studio, you see, it's a whole haven for all things pink, glittery and twirly. I’m picturing myself doing pirouettes amongst the charming cobbled streets, perhaps with a stop for a spot of afternoon tea in a quaint cafe! ☕️

Before I jetted off, I carefully curated my outfit. After all, the sartorial splendour of a ballet girl must never be overlooked! It had to be something elegant but playful, something that screamed “ballet dancer on the go!” So, I settled on a classic pink tulle tutu, with layers upon layers of frothy delight. To offset the whimsicalness, I chose a sleek black turtleneck top, some pearl earrings and my trusty pink ballerina flats. It was the perfect blend of sophisticated grace and flamboyant fun – just like me! 😉

Arriving at the studio was like stepping into a ballet fairytale. Pink walls, glistening mirrors, and a giant photo of Margot Fonteyn smiling down upon me! A little overwhelming, to be honest, but in the best possible way. The teacher, Miss Florence, had the warmest smile and eyes that sparkled with the same twinkle as a thousand twinkling pointe shoes. She immediately put me at ease, and soon we were dancing!

It was an absolute blast! The studio buzzed with the energy of all the talented students. We did barre work, practised leaps, and even tackled a few grand jetés, just for fun. I must admit, I did miss the company of my dear steed, Princess, my faithful steed (the only horse that tolerates tutus, by the way), but the joy of dancing with others is just as magical! 🐎

After a truly glorious workout, Miss Florence insisted I take a peek at the studio’s upcoming productions. Imagine my delight when I discovered they were staging a brand-new adaptation of Swan Lake, featuring some exquisite new choreography! It’s certainly a date for the diary, and I already know my outfit! Perhaps a white swan tutu, or a beautiful black one – maybe even both! 🦢🖤

Of course, no trip to Sutton in Ashfield would be complete without indulging in a delicious afternoon tea. I found the most charming little café called “The Teacup and the Swan” - perfectly on-theme, wouldn’t you say? Their homemade cakes and dainty sandwiches were truly delightful. But the real star of the show was the strawberry jam tart. Oh my! The taste and aroma took me right back to my childhood, sitting by the fire in my gran’s kitchen. 😊

With a full heart and a sugar-rush, I set off back to Derbyshire, vowing to return to Sutton in Ashfield very soon. I feel like there’s a new chapter of my tutu adventure unfolding, and I can't wait to explore it further. This little town has a magic all its own. ✨

Until next time, my dears, remember to twirl with joy and always believe in the magic of pink! 💖🩰
