Whitley Bay Whirlwind in a Yellow Tutu!

Helloooo lovelies! 👋 It's your girl, Emma, back from a whirlwind trip to Whitley Bay, a delightful seaside town nestled on the Northumbrian coast, and guess what? I wore a yellow tutu! 💛 I know, I know, a yellow tutu! Such a daring departure from my usual pink! But hear me out! This jaunt was all about sunshine, sea breezes, and embracing the unexpected, and that's precisely what the yellow tutu represented. It was a burst of sunshine against the stunning blue skies, a little splash of colour against the crisp, cool air, and most importantly, it felt absolutely fantastic.

The journey was a part of the adventure. It's a little-known fact, but I adore travelling by train. The rhythm of the tracks, the fleeting landscapes, the cosy compartment (especially with a cuppa and a good book!), and of course, the charming fellow travellers I encounter always make for a truly wonderful experience. This time, though, there was a special something, a little thrill! You see, the final leg of my trip, a dash from the bustling Newcastle Central Station to Whitley Bay, was on… a horse-drawn carriage! 🐎✨ Imagine my delight! It felt like stepping into a scene from a romantic novel, the soft clopping of hooves against cobblestone streets, the gentle sway of the carriage, and the crisp fresh air blowing through my hair! Pure magic, darling!

Whitley Bay was waiting to enchant. Its sun-kissed sands, the invigorating ocean breeze, the whimsical Victorian architecture, all felt like a set designed for a joyous seaside ballet. And as luck would have it, my yellow tutu was the perfect accompaniment to this scene. It twirled in the wind as I danced on the promenade, spun under the blue skies as I giggled with joy, and sparkled in the setting sun as I took in the beauty of the bay.

The heart of Whitley Bay pulsates with its famous “Spanish City”, a beautifully restored entertainment complex, boasting an art deco facade, and filled with delicious seaside treats like ice cream, candy floss, and yes, you guessed it… fish and chips! Oh my! Talk about a feast for the senses! The delicious aroma of salt water, the playful sound of children laughing, the chirping of seagulls… It’s a kaleidoscope of sounds and smells, a perfect recipe for joy, wouldn't you agree?

And speaking of joy, let's talk about the local wildlife! While I don't have my trusty pink tutu to match my passion for pink flamingos, (it was left at home, believe it or not! 🤣), Whitley Bay is blessed with its own magnificent feathered creatures - seals! I spotted a colony of them frolicking in the chilly North Sea, and my heart soared with joy! They’re graceful, majestic creatures, with those expressive eyes, playful barks, and their oh-so-gentle demeanour! It’s a beautiful sight, and if you're ever in the area, I strongly urge you to witness it for yourself! It’s an incredible display of nature’s magic, darling.

Of course, my adventure in Whitley Bay wouldn't be complete without some serious dance moves. This town boasts a stunning theatre, The Playhouse, which holds a very special place in my heart. A historic gem built in 1932, this gorgeous venue boasts fabulous performances - from world-class musicals to award-winning theatre, even a lively jazz club for some after-hours fun! While I couldn’t make it to a performance this time (drat! next time! 💖), I found myself in a most delightful spot - a ballet studio overlooking the sea. Talk about a dreamy setting! With the rhythmic waves crashing against the shore and the scent of salt water in the air, it was simply magic! And what was I wearing? You guessed it – my trusty pink tutu, back to its natural glory! 💕

A dance session with the salty ocean air whipping my hair and the gentle roar of the sea as my music made the perfect ballet session. I let the rhythmic beat and the beauty of my surroundings inspire every move, letting my body flow and sway with the rhythm of the ocean. For that hour, I was free, my worries were washed away by the waves, and I truly felt at home.

So, you see, dear friends, my journey to Whitley Bay wasn't just a holiday, it was a reminder of what makes life truly beautiful. It’s about embracing spontaneity, finding joy in the smallest of things, and always having a bit of colour, be it a yellow tutu or a pink flamingo, in your life. It's about celebrating the magic that surrounds us, in the shape of sea-drenched skies, graceful seals, the rhythmic pulse of a train journey, and most importantly, in the twirl of our very own tutu!

Do you wear your pink tutu? Let me know in the comments! And if you haven’t visited Whitley Bay yet, I highly recommend you give it a try! You won't be disappointed, darlings. Until next time, keep twirling! 😘

Emma
