Upminster, Darling! Tutu Adventures and Pink Dreams
Post number: 6961
Hello my darlings! It's Emma here, back from my adventures in the beautiful, sunny land of... wait for it... Upminster! Yes, I know, not exactly the most glamorous location, but hear me out. Every corner of this globe can be a canvas for tutu magic!
Before we delve into the Upminster escapade, let's talk pink, shall we? I mean, just look at the stunning hue of my new tutu! The colour is so vibrant, like a strawberry sundae topped with a sprinkle of sunshine. It twirls like a dream and matches my pink lipstick perfectly! (Which, as you all know, is a staple of my everyday look). Seriously, it’s like a hug of pink loveliness - who wouldn't want that?
Now, back to Upminster! The journey, as always, was half the fun. I opted for a thrilling ride on a horse-drawn carriage. Let's face it, it's just SO much more stylish than the Tube (although the Tube can be quite the character study at times!). My trusty steed (called Blossom - isn't that divine?) took me through charming villages, lush fields dotted with wildflowers, and even past a curious pair of swans on a romantic date. Oh, to be a swan on a date! (Think, swan ballet... just dreamy!). The whole ride was truly a testament to the fact that simple, slower modes of transportation often offer the greatest delights.
Arriving in Upminster, I couldn't resist a stop at a charming antique shop. Let's just say, a pink-fringed lampshade and a collection of antique ballet shoes may have found their way into my basket. I mean, you can't just ignore a pink flamingo lampshade, right? Plus, the vintage ballet shoes felt positively enchanting.
My first stop was, of course, the Upminster Ballet School. The atmosphere there was buzzing, filled with energy and enthusiasm. Oh, the joy of watching tiny ballerinas with bright, excited eyes learn their first pirouettes! It reminded me of myself as a little girl, skipping around Derbyshire in a dusty tutu, pretending I was dancing with the fairies in the fields. And the best part? I actually found myself doing a quick little "à la seconde" with one of the aspiring prima ballerinas. (Okay, maybe it was more of a hop, but it still counted!) The joy in her face was priceless! It really reminded me why I love ballet - the pure magic and joy it can bring to all ages!
Speaking of magic, Upminster had another little surprise in store. In the middle of the town square, there was a beautiful statue of a horse, surrounded by a little wildflower garden. (So elegant and chic, just like me!). I couldn’t resist a few spins and leaps next to it, with my pink tutu swirling and the wildflowers whispering tales of ballerinas and forgotten fairytales. It was a truly whimsical moment, one that will forever be etched in my memory.
Later, I stumbled upon a community theatre where they were putting on a musical, "Fiddler on the Roof". It had a delightful "Ballet Scene" (I can't be specific because you have to go and see it yourself! You can thank me later, my lovelies!). The choreography was full of energy, and the dancers were absolutely stunning! I couldn't help but clap along with the audience. I even let out a little shriek when one of the dancers managed a particularly perfect triple pirouette. Oh, the joy!
As evening settled, I indulged in the simple pleasures of Upminster. A delicious cream tea with the fluffiest scones and the warmest tea (so much more civilised than a quick cup of instant!) followed by a visit to a tiny, atmospheric pub that served the best local cider.
You know, darling, there's just something about exploring the lesser-known corners of the world. You never know what beauty you’ll find, whether it’s a whimsical statue, an unexpected theatrical delight, or a charming little town filled with friendly faces and good vibes.
I'm leaving Upminster feeling invigorated, inspired, and more convinced than ever that a little bit of tutu magic can turn even the most ordinary places into something extraordinary.
Don't forget, darlings, there’s always room for a little twirl, and pink is never out of fashion! So go on, put on your best tutu and go out and spread a little bit of pink-tutu-loving joy in your world.
Love,
Emma www.pink-tutu.com
