Leicester Calling: A Tutu-ful Day Out!

Hello my darling tutufarians! It's Emma here, back from a whirlwind adventure to the heart of Leicestershire! Today's tale involves a touch of black, a sprinkle of magic, and, of course, a pink tutu. Let me fill you in...

I woke up this morning with the unmistakable urge to hop on a train. There's nothing quite like watching the world zoom by, feeling the gentle sway of the carriage, and allowing my imagination to run wild with the possibilities that lie ahead. And today, those possibilities whispered "Leicester" in my ear.

Now, I'm not one to shy away from a good dose of classic black - I'm not a pink-obsessed, tutu-wearing stereotype, you know! (Just kidding… a little!) - so today, my trusty pink tutu found a perfect partner in a chic, flowing black tulle overskirt. A little edge, a touch of mystery, but still utterly captivating!

The journey itself was pure delight. Sunlight streamed through the windows, casting the landscape in a warm, golden glow. I caught a glimpse of a herd of grazing deer, their velvety coats shimmering like jewels against the green fields. I always say, the beauty of nature is a ballet performance in itself!

Reaching Leicester, I felt a familiar buzz of excitement. I just love the charming energy of historical cities! My mission: a peek into the captivating world of Leicester’s dance scene.

First stop? A quaint dance studio tucked away on a quiet street, a perfect oasis amidst the bustling city. As I walked in, the smell of wood polish and warm bodies filling the space greeted me. A classical ballet class was in full swing.

I have to say, I love a good classical class, even if it does take me back to my (not-so-distant) student days. The sheer grace and discipline, the silent understanding between dancers and teacher... It's a magical atmosphere.

After a few well-executed plies and a grand jeté that took me back to my younger, more carefree days, I was ready for a real treat: a performance at the magnificent De Montfort Hall. The moment the lights dimmed, the familiar hush fell over the audience, and the orchestra began their melody, I felt a familiar warmth spread through my heart. It was the "Sleeping Beauty" ballet - the story itself was magical enough, but the energy of the performers was electric! I was mesmerised.

The ballet dancers seemed to float on stage. Their strength, fluidity, and artistry were truly breathtaking. I just wished I could rewind those fleeting moments of magic and savour them forever. I can't deny, the "Sleeping Beauty" performance had me dreaming of waltzing on a moonlit balcony myself!

But this was only the first chapter of my day. Later that evening, I was lured to a live band gig at a cozy pub, which was pulsating with life and music. I felt my toes tapping and my heart yearning for a spontaneous pirouette in the crowded space. I held back, though! (One can't break out in a dance on a whim all the time.)

As the evening drew to a close, and the moon began to cast its silver glow over Leicester, I found myself reflecting on the day’s adventure. I had been transported to a different world, a world of dance, music, and pure joy, a world I wouldn’t trade for anything!

This trip, like many of my adventures, reminded me that beauty can be found everywhere, in the most unexpected of places, if you only open your heart to it. It reminded me of the magic of travel, the thrill of the unknown, and the ever-lasting power of the arts.

Oh, and, of course, it reinforced my love for the beauty and freedom that comes with wearing a tutu. I can’t resist a little final call to action! Grab your nearest pink tutu (or your favourite colour, you rebels!) and twirl into your day. You never know what amazing adventures are waiting for you!

Until next time, dear tutufarians, stay chic and stay sassy!

Emma x
