#TutuBlog 2015-09-05: Paris, Mon Amour! 🩰🇫🇷

Bonjour mes amies!

It’s Emma here, signing in from a quaint little Parisian cafe with a steaming cup of coffee and a plate of delicious croissants (they’re not as good as a Bakewell Tart, mind you, but still very delightful!). This is post number 7003, can you believe it? I never thought I'd be writing about ballet in Paris back when I first started this little blog of mine. But as you know, darling, dreams do come true. And today, mine's got a touch of Parisian magic! ✨

It’s been a whirlwind of a week. I flew into Paris from London (you guessed it, via Eurostar) and was immediately swept into the Parisian ballet scene. The moment I arrived at my charming little hotel room, with its soft, lavender walls and a balcony overlooking the Seine, I knew this trip was going to be something special.

The Charm of Parisian Ballet

As you all know, Paris has a history with ballet as old as time. There's a certain romance and artistry that seeps into every corner of this city. I went to see a performance of Giselle at the Palais Garnier, and let me tell you, it was a dream. The dancers were spectacular, their movements a language of emotions I understood perfectly, their pink tutus swirling in the spotlights, and the music, my dear, the music just swept me away! The grandeur of the theatre itself just amplified the experience, all ornate details, dazzling chandeliers and even a little touch of pink! Oh, Paris, how you get me!

But let's not forget the charm of the street performances. On a little cobbled square tucked away behind a beautiful patisserie, I saw the most delightful group of dancers performing a beautiful, elegant piece to Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake. It was just the three of them, but they moved with such grace and artistry that I was completely mesmerised. And can you imagine my joy when I found out one of the dancers had actually come from Derbyshire, my hometown! Talk about a sense of connection!

Exploring The City With My Tutu

You wouldn't catch me wearing anything but my tutu on a day like this! A fluffy pink tutu with sparkly sequins and delicate feathers is a must when you're touring a city that radiates glamour and fashion. I wandered around the Marais district with my tutu flowing in the breeze, the Eiffel Tower glimmering in the distance. I even tried my luck with some charming Parisian artists who were sketching the beautiful scenery. Now, they couldn't resist adding a little sparkle to their creations with my pink tutu, and I'm happy to say, I was their star!

Speaking of Parisian charm, I made my way to the Musée Rodin, a beautifully serene garden space dotted with breathtaking sculptures, where I stumbled upon the most extraordinary display of wildlife! I spotted majestic peacocks strutting around with their iridescent plumage, and some playful rabbits hopping through the grounds. Now, as you all know, I adore our animal friends, so I simply couldn't resist snapping a few photos with my trusty camera.

And of course, a trip to Paris wouldn't be complete without a visit to the legendary Tuileries Garden. I took a spin on the beautiful carousel with its vintage wooden horses, marvelled at the gorgeous flowers and sketched a few ballet steps with my fellow tutu-wearers, just a group of Parisian ladies taking a little time to dream.

Tutu-ful Memories and Lessons Learned

So, Paris has charmed me completely. The energy is electric, the air is filled with creativity, and the passion for dance is truly inspiring. This city has taught me that ballet is not just an art form; it's a language, a feeling, and a way of life. Even if I don't understand French, my heart can speak to these beautiful performances and to the hearts of those who make the magic of ballet come alive.

I've learned that beauty and grace are everywhere, from the elegance of the ballet to the charm of a street performer, from a dazzling peacock strutting its stuff to the simple joy of a playful rabbit. I learned that the world is a dance floor, and everyone has their own story to tell, and their own unique dance to share.

But perhaps the most important lesson is this: don't be afraid to stand out! Wear your tutu with pride, let your heart lead you, and dance to the beat of your own drum! After all, who knows what adventures you might stumble upon, where you might meet a wonderful person, or who you might inspire to get into their pink tutu and embrace their own inner ballerina?

Now, I'm going to explore a few more hidden gems in this fabulous city. But you can be sure to expect a new post from Paris tomorrow. Keep it pink, ladies!

Until next time,

Emma xoxo
